Hello, I am a rising senior and was wondering what my chances at Georgetown would be.

GPA: 91.2/100 (UW) my school does not have a 4.0 scale
SAT I Breakdown: 2200: 760(math) 710 (critical reading) 730(writing)
SAT IIs: 700(Biology), 710(US History)

Taken 5 APs, several honors, and only 2 regular classes through 3 years in high school and 8th grade advanced courses. Taking 4 APs senior year. Low GP UW but with a very rigorous schedule and an upward trend (did not work very hard until I realized I needed to get serious around middle of 10th grade)

ECs
2 years cross-country
2 years winter track
2 years spring track
(Started sports 10th grade and fell in love, was not very active prior)
Global Awareness Club (3 years)
Peer Drug Educator
120+ hours of community service at local library as part of organization that organized rec events for school kids and members of the community (former Vice President and current President of the club)
80+ hours at a nursing home

Working hard on my essays and hoping my recs will be impressive as well.

How do my chances look? Should I bother applying at all? Im hoping my standardized scores make up for my GPA

Your SAT looks go, but your subjet tests are weak for Georgetown (and you also need 1 more, because Georgetown requires 3). Your ECs also look pretty good. If you work on subject tests, and write stellar essays with great recommendations, than you have a chance.

You should definitely apply though. It’s worth a shot. You might not get in, but then again, you might, and you’ll never know if you don’t apply.

Yeah I was planning on taking math IIC in October as I am also applying to schools such as NYU-Stern, UNC, UMICH, UCONN, and others

I really would like to have Georgetown as an option it is as a school as my financial state is uncertain so the more options I have the better :)

Everyone here stresses SAT. Yes, it’s key. But for you I’d work harder on leadership skills, I’m not seeing necessarily anything that stands out.

Your scores fit within the range of Georgetown, so I’d say definitely try!

Im president of a community service club @ my library but thats about it. In my schools clubs and sports are scheduled at such a time that they interfere so its kindave hard to be dedicated to both. I was also chosen to be the sole student on a committee that reviewed resumes for the local library board of trustees.

Also I was also accepted in a summer program at Drexel university: camp business @ lebow college of business. Will that help my resume? Throughout the summer I will also be doing more community service at a nursing home and I am looking for a part time job. I was not very dedicated to my school work and ECs freshmen year so im trying to beef up my resume as much as possible before apps. Do you think my summer program will help? I really like the feel of Georgetown so I am hoping my efforts to beef up my r

Also I will have 3 teacher rec letters, guidance counseler letter, as well as hopefully, stellar essays. Im trying really hard to make up for my laziness when I was an immature freshmen :p

Also how low is my GPA compared to the average for Georgetown? I’ve been finding conflicting info so im not sure what to believe. Anyone able to tellme average accepted out of 100

Oh one more thing, applying for “peer leaders” program as a senior, small club by application only in which seniors guide freshmen through their first year in high school. Hopefully I am accepted. Also taking Math IIC hoping for 750-800

Not judging your overall profile, but offering this: Your subject tests are NOT weak. I got in with these scores:

770
640
610

and others with lower. What are you majoring in? The tests should kind of slightly have something to do with your intended major. Like me for international affairs I took English, USH, and Japanese.

I am planning to major in buisiness, management and administration most likely. If possible I may want to double major or minor with psychology for a possible opening of a “corporate psych” job such as human relations.

I am also taking the math IIC satII in oct. i wanted to take one math, science, and humanities sat to showcase a variety of my abilities. Im hoping for 750+

I am working very hard to strengthen my resume before apps start because I am scared my low GPA will hurt me :(
