Chances for Georgia Tech, Oxford College at Emory, UNC- Chapel Hill, Williams

Hi!

I've been reading all of these "chance" threads and decided to give it a shot.

I have quite a complicated schooling situation. For my 7th-10th grade years, I attended an Public IB School in South Carolina and recieved my IB MYP diploma. After my 10th grade year my dad was transferred to Georgia and I currently attend a public high school here. Upon transferring schools, my GPA dropped .4 from a 3.9 because of the different weightings in GA. Also, I lost many leadership opportunities that I would have most likely filled had I been able to stay in South Carolina. Finally, after moving to Georgia a counselor suggested that I be tested for ADD/ADHD because of my lackluster performance in a few classes and, surprise, I tested positive. Anyways, enough with my lame excuses. :P

STATS:

Phew. I would greatly appreciate it if you would be able to chance me for Georgia Tech, Oxford College at Emory, Clemson, Tulane, UNC-CH (reach, I know), and Williams (SUPER reach, I know). Also, if you have any school recommendations, I would love to hear them!

Thank you and have a great day!

Oops! I forgot about two things…

Sports:
Member of Swim Team (GA & SC): 9 years

Job:
Lifeguard: 2 summers, in SC at a Y/ in GA at a 5 star resort. 40+ hours per week. 15 hours per week expected during the school year in GA.

Hi. Your stats look fine for GT, Oxford, Clemson, and probably Tulane. You are right about the other two. BTW, a 3.5 UW is better than you make it sound. I know it probably won’t get you into Willliams, but still…

As far as recommending other schools, there are literally hundreds that you qualify for. There are other factors besides academics to consider. What are your preferences regarding:

1) Size of school
2) Location (urban, suburban, rural)
3) Region of the country (does it have to be within a certain distance from home? Are there some regions you just do/don’t want?)
4) Weather preference (warm, medium, love snow)
5) Are sports important, either as a spectator or a participant?
6) Are Fraternities/Soroities in your future?
7) Co-ed, or is single sex OK?
8) Anything else that is of particular importance to you personally?

Finally, how about financial considerations? This is critical.
This will help narrow the list.

Thank you so much for your feedback fallenchemist! And as far as preferences, I have almost none and thankfully financials aren’t too big of a problem, just nothing like NYU or something… That’s why my school choices are so widespread. My only main preference is that the school has diversity. However, Clemson and Tulane don’t really have that… :P

Define diversity.

With no real preferences, it is almost impossible to narrow the list. Like I said, you qualify for hundreds of schools. Read through some of the guides and see which ones seem to jump out at you. Not sure how else to help.
