Chances...Princeton, Duke, G'town, UNC, Vandy

I've posted a chance thread before, but my schools have changed alot. Thanks for any replies. Please evaluate my chances, my stats are:

I live in Georgia (the state). I go to a private school in Chattanooga, TN. It's pretty prestigious and usually sends 5+ to ivies each year: Baylor School.

GPA: 3.8 (uw) 3.9 (w)

RANK: ~12% AT LEAST! Probably top 10%

SATI: 2170 (750m, 720cr, 700w) (1st time and w/ prep, but I'm hoping to raise it some, shotting for ~2220)

SATIIs: Bio--550 (yikes, took it in 9th grade) Plan on taking Chem, Math, and Spanish (to replace that bio).

Courses: Took the hardest possible schedule--when I graduate will have 9 APs (CalcBC, Stat, Physics, Chem, English Language, English Lit, Spanish, Spanish Lit, USHistory): 8 honors (English I, Enlgish II, Bio, Chem, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Precal): 8 regular classes (Pottery, Theater, Spanish 3-4, Euro History, Theater2, Eastern Religions, American Government)--none of these classes had advanced options.

ECs: Habitat for Humanity--VP
Junior class--VP
The Play (theater)--Secretary
School Newspaper--Senior editor
Walkabout (outdoor club)--Student instructor
Writing Center tutor
Community service (100+ hours)
Peer tutor--board of youth advisors
Spanish Club
Political Club
Swing Dance Club
Varsity Tennis (8th + 9th grade, then I quit)
Went on a trip to India w/ Walkabout to trekk
Went on a trip to Costa Rica w/ Walkabout to kayak
Went on a People to People trip to Australia to play tennis
Went on a community service trip to Asheville, NC--worked in soup kitchen
Went on a Lead America trip to NYC/DC for diplomacy

(Probably) Applying to: (my thoughts (motly based on info from other people) are written to the side)
Princeton (ED)------REJECT
Brown------WAITLIST/REJECT
U Penn-------REJECT
Stanford------REJECT
Columbia------REJECT
Duke------REJECT
UNC-Chapell Hill------WAITLIST
Georgetown------WAITLIST/REJECT
Northwestern------WAITLIST
Tufts------ACCEPT
Vanderbilt------ACCEPT
American------ACCEPT W/ MERIT AID
UGA (in-state)------ACCEPT W/ MERIT AID

Just out of curiosity, how much would that pton ED help? Should I not "waste" the leg-up applying early gives you on a school out of my reach? Should I--instead--apply early to another, more obtainable school?

Please help me out--again--thanks!

no one.....

c'mon guys...

Take it easy dude. I think you're taking it a little too hard on yourself. I think you'll get in Northwestern, UNC Chapel Hill, Georgetown, and Duke. You should also consider applying to Wake Forest, Emory, UFlorida, UVA, and William and Mary. You have great stats, and if you have great essays I say you have a great shot at some of those reaches. Perhaps try out for a sports team, join the school band, or do something else to develop a little diversity in those ECs man. Thats my only suggestion. By the way- you don't have to report your poor Bio SAT II score to those schools.

I thought that if I submitted one SAT II, I had to submit them all...

Roberto42 is being too generous. RD at Ivy Leagues and Duke will be difficult since you may be outside the top 10% with SAT's that are competitive, but not above average. Unless you are a URM, I don't suggest applying to Princeton ED, since that is a big reach even for valedictorians with higher SAT's.

Instead, you might want to consider Duke, Northwestern, UPenn, or Georgetown ED. ED is a bigger advantage than admissions officers will tell you; just look at the difference in acceptance rates. I think you would have a great chance with Georgetown or Northwestern ED, and your chances at Duke and Penn could be decent also.

Does Georgetown have ED, I thought it just had EA...

Princeton (ED)------slight reach
Brown------slight reach
U Penn-------slight reach
Stanford------slight reach
Columbia------slight reach
Duke------match
UNC-Chapell Hill------match
Georgetown------match
Northwestern------match
Tufts------safe match
Vanderbilt------safe match
American------safe match
UGA (in-state)------super safety

just what i think=]
good luck

Northwestern also has a surprisingly high ED acceptance rate. If you really like Nwestern, I say go for it. And why not try other great schools around you like Wake Forest, Emory, William and Mary, or UVA? I think you'd get into Wake & Emory easily, with W & M and UVA being high matches.
