Can you please weigh her chances, and see if she is good enough to get admitted, if not with a scholarship?
No one can be sure about a Harvard acceptance. But I and many others would be pretty surprised if you sister does not get it. She has everything going for her. Her stats are par excellence and better than those of most accepted applicants. All the best.
She definitely has a chance tone admitted. Unfortunately Harvard is a reach school for everyone due to its extreme acceptance rate. I believe she will get in because her ECs stand out over everyone else’s and that she also has an amazing academic background. Mind commenting back the link to her writing? And can you chance me? I put a link below. Good luck! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18060352#Comment_18060352
Thank you all! Yes, JustOneDad, my parents put both of us into the same classes, and the same school. She’s my role model, but has a lot more accomplishments than I do.
Maybe you should just wait to see if she gets in to Harvard, which might give you some indication as to where your application stands. You’re a Sophomore, right?
Her stats look good and her ECs are pretty good too;however, she is an international student.
First of all for her stats, they are amazing but ot seems like in India massive test prep is very common so those scores might be discounted. Her courses seem great, and her scores are too.
In terms of ECs, bring published is cool, but it looks like either a small publication or self published. Anyone can post anything on amazon(ebooks wise). The math conpetition rank of 13th in the city is just mediocre(for H anyway) and most of the other stuff is common.
As an international applicant Id say she is above average but not a massive standout. Low-mid reach Id say.
Chances are not great for Berkley, UCLA or Stanford either. She has great scores for Berkley and UCLA terms, but they give preference to california residents. If she applies as a full-pay international then she might have a shot.
Stanford is about as difficult as Harvard to get into, so the same applies.
Why doesn’t she consider some lower ranked schools and a few safeties?
She has a lot of safeties, sgopal2. Thank you for your reply!
My sister does not exactly have a SMALL publication. She sent her work to a well known publishing house, and they agreed to publish it, after months of editing and work. It’s for sale in several bookstores. Will this make a significant difference to her application?
