Thanks! That’s sounds comforting. If I just get into one of these I’ll be set :D

I think you have a shot if you write amazing essays explaining why you belong to any of those schools. For example for brown make sure to mention how much freedom you get in making your own schedule

Yeah for sure. That’s actually why I’m applying to Brown. Open curriculum is awesome.

If you are already admitting you are unspectacular, it’s going to be hard to convince those colleges to admit you. Elite higher education isn’t a pushover matter. There’s nothing that being a URM can do for you if you are not a worthy candidate. In fact, at MIT, for example, URMs are often stronger academically than non-URMs.

Oh I’m pretty spectacular ;). I just meant that I didn’t cure cancer or build a school in Africa. Still, my ECs could be better. I feel like I’m a unique applicant which is helpful I think.

Thanks for chancing me! I agree with most people I think most of them are reaches, except Cornell might be reasonable. You’re GPA and SAT are a bit low for such good schools, but I think being Hispanic will work in your favor. You seem like a smart guy regardless, so good luck!

Yeah, I’d have to say the same as everyone else. Your grades and test scores are great, but to be a competitive applicant for schools like these, it’s almost like you have to have near-perfect EVERYTHING, extra-curriculars and essays included. Definitely still apply, because what do you have to lose? But at least you already have a couple backup schools.

Good luck!

Don’t mean to be racist or anything, but your chances would be even lower if you weren’t a Hispanic male. That’s just Affirmative Action nowadays.

All of the schools are reach, except JH, and Duke, which could be low reaches.

As a hispanic you do, don’t chance you identity. I’d say good 70% chance for any of these.

Chance me back please –> http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/penn-state-university-park/1595458-penn-state-chances-low-gpa-help.html

write some really good essays

reach for anyone but I had a Hispanic friend with a 2000 that was accepted to Harvard. Average GPA, mediocre extra C’s

Your SAT’s and GPA (unless your rank is very high) will make all these schools reaches.

Chances are pretty low tbh, BUT you might still have a chance if you can prove your enthusiasm and passion through your essays! Good luck

How rigorous is your course schedule? That’s usually very important.

Ivy League colleges are reaches for everyone. I think you need to have some amazing essays to make up your standardize scores. But you should definitely consider other schools.

Yeah your SAT may not be so great CR + M is only 1370. Those schools will want like 1450, maybe even 1500 +. THats true, it can’t hurt to apply, but don’t be surprised if you get rejected from every single one of those schools. UVA is amazing I hear, and if your engineering Va Tech is superb. Good luck.

Your CR and M will hurt you. If your 2150 was more b/c of the M+CR, you’d be fine.

I foresee you getting into Johns Hopkins and/or Cornell!
