Target schools: (not including safeties/matches)

Harvard
Stanford
Johns Hopkins
Caltech

I think my academics should be ok for these colleges... not so sure about ECs

mit is a good shot.. i don't know about harvard. make sure to right an essay that stands out and makes you special.

thanks... you think I should emphasize the different places I've lived in my essay???

Anyone else wanna chance me??

I don't see a weak spot for Harvard. Does someone want to explain why this app would be iffy at Harvard?

ummm its harvard, you never know

mit, stanford and harvard will be hard for admission. nice sat scores though.

good luck!

Very shakey EC's... Surprisingly low GPA and mediocre rank. SAT Physics and Chem are extremely low for MIT's standards.

MIT: Reach
Stanford: Slight Reach
Harvard: Slight Reach

Brilliant stats!....bland ECs! Of course, with those stats most institutions will probably be able to overlook your lack of ECs....

50% chance at Harvard (If you did not apply to yale or Princeton), MIT 40% Just my opinion.

good chances...but who can tell for sure..

Very interesting superscore...

thanks for all the responses!!

Flippy... I guess my GPA is low for Harvard standards... but a class rank of 5 doesn't seem that bad to me... not all the people who get into harvard, mit, stanford etc are much higher than that; also, not too worried about SAT IIs... as far as I can tell, as long as their above 700 it won't hurt my chances too much

Whyivy... 50% for harvard and 40% for MIT?!?!? I'm not gonna get that optimistic since the acceptances rates are around 10%

And for ECs, forgot to add:
Qualified for state Brain Bee (top 30 in state)
BPA: 1st JAVA programming regionals, 3rd JAVA programming state; treasurer 11th grade
... probably doesn't help a whole lot; not a whole lot of opportunites around here

appreciate any more opinions

Dude, slight reach for Harvard is damn good.

I know slight reach is good... but I think its a reach for me

harvard is not a 'slight reach' for anyone... its a 'reach' for everyone (well, almost everyone...)

Well 5/249 isn't that great...

Like I know for Brown almost half the students who get in are either rank 1 or 2.

...watever

I just think its a little weird to think that I have better chances to harvard than MIT with my focus on science

i think you will get into harvard and defintly mit and brown and wat ever other ivy leagues. maybe princeton will be harder to get into but thats just because its like crazy. and you were born in bangladesh and lived in australia. that is REALLY unique and will make u stand out a lot. plus ur sat score is amazing. and ur gpa is pretty dam good too. ur EC's are good enough. u will be fine. I think u will get in whereever u wanna go.

5/249 is fine I think. Its nothing to worry about, and definitely not a weakness. I tend to believe that once your at a certain level, which I think you are, in your class, it is the other things that will matter more.

thanks guys

My friend got a 1460/1600 on her SATs. She was recently accepted to MIT Early decision. And I forgot to add that she's Asian as well.
