Michigan - yes
Harvard - ???

probably not Harvard

Sorry, what really stood out was the volunteering. I don’t think that you’d get into Harvard, but Michigan is a 100%. Trust me. I have many friends who have been there (I live in state of Michigan) and their qualifications are not as nearly extreme as yours.

Agree with others. Excellent shot for Michigan. Doubtful for Harvard

Why just Harvard?
You have a GREAT chance in other top universities.
Good Luck!

You are not allowed to apply to a school SCEA and another EA. If you would like to apply to Harvard SCEA, you will have to apply to Michigan RD, or vice versa. That’s why it is called Single Choice Early Action because you are only allowed to apply to one school Early Action.

SCEA only restricts you from applying to other private universities; public schools like UMich are still in the clear.

Thanks for the advice everyone!

@cyberzombies012 My mistake. You’re right, and I knew that, but I forgot UMich was public for a second.

@171College @sgopal2 , is it just that admissions to Ivies are just a crapshoot in general, or are there specific weaknesses in my application?

Your application is quite strong. Its just that you will not stand out among your peer group (asian males). There will literally be thousands of other kids who look exactly like you on paper. Go to the harvard sub and read the profiles of the kids who were accepted. Then look at the asians who were rejected. I bet if you printed them all out and showed them to someone they wouldn’t be able to tell your profile from the kids who were rejected. Try to figure out what the accepted kids had that made them different.
