i think you have a good shot! ill rate maybe 5-7, assuming that a ‘10’ candidate would be someone who found the cure for cancer. just try to bring up your critical reading score and study up for the sat IIs.

also, make sure not to slack off with the essays. this will be your last chance to impress uva (or any college for that matter).

btw im looking from an OOS’ perspective (i just got in OOS. yay!) so your chances maybe even higher. try to talk to current seniors at your high school, especially those who have gotten in to uva and compare your stats.

good luck!

awesome, thanks alexi. congrats on ur acceptance btw! im definetly going to try to bring up that reading score in june. yea i have a great english teacher too, hopefully i can get some help from him on the essays as well.

how do u think i am with ec’s? i know there’s nothing strikingly spectacular there, but i think i have a lot of experience with helping/caring for others and im really trying to emphasize my involvement in the community. do u know how uva feels about that? or is it somewhat overlooked except for VCU’s Gmed (which im fairly certain looks for those kinds of things)?

no problem!

umm not too sure about UVa specifically but i think your ECs are pretty good in general. lots of community service shows dedication, and thats always a plus =)

as an in-state student you’ll definitely get in, don’t even sweat it, the acceptance rate for in-state was ~42 % for the class of 2013…42% is a lot, it’s not that difficult to get in in-state

with that being said, continue to work hard your senior year (take 4 to 5 AP courses) and don’t let your grades slip, if you do that i think your a sure shot to get accepted

personally I got accepted for the class of 2013 and your stats are similar to mine, my GPA was a little higher (4.30) but I also only had 630 on the reading section of the SAT and my overall SAT was 2090, your extra curricular are better than mine and I think overall your probably a stronger applicant than I was so if I got in you’ll definitely get in

Good Luck!

well thats a relief! ill definetly try to work hard senior year to get good grades in my ap classes, i dont think it should be too difficult i feel i have pretty good work/study habits.
well thanks ThaRussian, really appreciate the personal insight =)

bumpp plzz

3.99 UW GPA… this is not actually possible…

woah sorry calculated it wrong, thanks for the catch

UW GPA: 3.96

kill me if you don’t get in.

bbbumppppp

…you’re honestly bumping this post up?

Probably a 7-8.

Raise verbal then a 9.
