I have a quick question:
If you’re going to “chance back” people who reply to this topic, that means you possess the skills to chance someone–namely, anyone. So then you can adequately chance yourself; why would you need other people to chance you?

(I’m not trying to be obnoxious, I’m actually just curious about this whole chancing thing.)

XD I was wondering about that too when I was new to the site. I think the point of this chancing stuff is that each user gives their own thoughts on another’s chances as honestly as they can based on what they have learned/heard/studied about the college admissions process.

That’s why it’s “chancing”; nothing is certain, it’s just a way of hearing what other people think and maybe even getting some advice.

Your chances a pretty good to get into one of those, but you better have a few safeties. It is just the era we live in. There are more well qualified applicants than spots. None of those schools want to fill all of their slots with 2380s. Best of luck!

Hey, I’m an Asian guy too who understands how you feel when people tell you about not showing passion, etc. Your scores are extremely good and I think that your app will at least get a closer look because of them. It seems like you have done everything in your power to be an ivy leaguer up to now, just remember to let your personality shine through, it is harder to reject a person than an app. You have at least a good shot at those top schools, which is as much as most anyone can truthfully say.

How do you know you’re valedictorian already? Don’t you receive notification of your nomination in the middle of your senior year? You practically have a perfect score, but how rigorous was the curriculum in the context of the courses offered by your school? Only AP Physics and Chemistry? Excellent SAT score! However, being on the chess and golf team will practically have no weight at all. Your extracurriculars aren’t strong imo. Your real strong suit, in terms of commitment, is playing the violin., which will be good if you are going into music (i doubt it though). What you’ve accomplished at that science competition is impressive; however, it doesn’t show any real passion, considering it was a one-time thing. Your extracurricular activities overall don’t have a solid focus on a field of interest. And considering you want to go to the toughest Ivies, you will need to have leadership, which you really haven’t shown too much of. The random awards are very impressive on paper, but like the title says, they’re random. They don’t have a clear-cut focus that really shows insight into who you are.

You are unequivocally a very intelligent guy, but in order to get into the schools you’ve listed, you need much more than that. Your academics/scores show what kind of student you are, but your extracurriculars/essays show what type of person you are, which in a way, is far more important to admissions officers. With that said, really hone in on a passion in your essay! But overall, all of those schools are obviously reaches

bump :D

You’re definitely well-qualified for all of the schools you listed. Your grades and test scores are near perfect and you have an impressive list of ECs.

I’d say you could consider all of those schools low to mid reaches. Just focus on writing some stellar essays and hope for some really good recs. I think you have a much better shot than most at acceptance.

bump !!!

Retaking a 35 ACT, shows an astounding lack of confidence and questionable math, CR skills. Why are aren’t you more confident? Why is your reasoning somewhat questionable? It’s distracting.

Well I think you’ve done as much as you can to get admitted to these schools! Of course, however, no one is guaranteed at these schools. However, I’d think you have VERY high chances (as far as these schools go) at getting in. I wish I had these stats I would put them all as low reaches (not because of your record, but because of the random crapshoot that is the admission process). Best of luck!

I think you have a great shot at all your schools because your extra-curriculars are amazing. Just work on the essays.

Agree with all the above posts. Couldn’t add anything new. Do good on essays and interviews. Be confident. And I am sure you will get into at least one of them!
