Chances for ILR?

Hey everyone! So i made a forum asking a ton of questions about ILR and emailed the guy who is in charge of the Sports Management Club with a few additional questions and I really like the program. So I would love to know what you guys think my chances are. Thanks in advance!

ACT: 27. I took the December test and am awaiting results, they should be a few points higher, but i have nothing concrete at this point.
SAT 2: Math Lvl 2: 600
Spanish: 710
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0):3.8

AP: French, Spanish Language, Spanish Literature, Chemistry, Calculus
IB (place score in parenthesis):Full IB <---death. School that does the IB program won very prestigious award for international focus.

Senior Year Course Load:
@ High School :
AP Spanish
AP Chemistry
AP Calculus
AP/IB Spanish Literature
IB Lit
IB History
IB theory of knowledge
IB Projects
@ College
International Economics
Writing Class
Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): not really major, but got Student of the month for December and in my town we have a lot of really competitive high schools so I was pretty proud to get it above all the other kids. yay me. haha
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):

Varsity Tennis (captain), Varsity Soccer, i have gotten second team twice and such. ( captain), ASB President, NHS, Drama( costumes), EIHS President ( the IB school, that won goldman sach's award for international focus, inside of my school, i can explain if I need to), on the YAT which is a group of students on the board of education for my state. we are advisors for the superintendent.

Job/Work Experience: None

Volunteer/Community service: Over 150 hours, 100 in spanish by senior year. I started and lead a group that goes around my city and helps hispanics that are having trouble with school because of a language barrier and tutor them one on one. By the end of senior year, i would guess that I would have 200+
A new thing, I got into this group of people at my school fundraising money for Children's Miracle Network, we raise around $1000 dollars each year.

Summer Activities: Taking a course at University and doing community service. Also visiting colleges.
Essays: One is about me traveling to vietnam and then coming back and creating micro loans in my government group. i like it. and the one for ILR is about me traveling and how I have seen the manipulation and the unfair wages that the farmers and soccer players get from big corporations and how I want to change that etc.
Teacher Recommendation:I have solid ones, like top 1 percent they have ever taught. and both my teachers have taught at the university of oregon and really prestigious schools.
Counselor Rec: she loves me, during parent teacher conferences my counselor made my mom cry with all the great things she had to say.

Male Hispanic on the West coast, i'm not from Cali though. Not first generation college student.

Thanks everyone!

And if any current cornell students would like to see my essays to see how good they are, just let me know and i’d be glad to PM them to you. thanks!

Send me your essays and I’ll take a look.

As for your EC’s, I would stress the translation work you’ve been doing. It shows a willingness to get involved in your work.

Don’t worry too much about your test scores and grades. Your essays, EC’s, and your fit in the school matter the most at ILR.

hopefully you got the PMs, tun.

Anyone else? Thanks!

I’ll take a look at your essay as well. I was accepted ED to ILR

just sent’em. lemme know what you guys think!

PM me the essays.

sent’em. and for the people who have already read my essays, what do you guys think my chances are? thanks!

Anyone that i sent the essays to?

Great. You showed a knowledge of the school and definitely demonstrated fit. My advice? I would include a bit more about your interest in labor relations on a broad scale in addition to the two specific interests you listed, both of which were fine–free trade coffee and FIFA. There weren’t any obvious, glaring spelling or grammatical errors, but I was reading for that. Have a few people proofread it before it goes out.
Re: Common App Essay…
Microfinance = WIN

haha i’m glad you liked them
I’ll try to find a way to include those things in my essay. and yes! microfinance does win. hahaha :)

just got my ACT score, I got a 28 so I’m in the lower 25 percentile.

Question: My highest scores are English:31, Math: 30, Reading: 31 and Science: 25. Will ILR really care that much about the science? Despite that stupid score, i would have, at least in my eyes, a pretty good score. thanks!

any more opinions on my chances? and any comments on the science ACT score? thanks

Your ACT score is decent when not including the Science section.

And yes ILR will look at each section separately, so no, your low Science score should not hinder you that much.

Okay cool thanks. What do you guys think my chances are overall?
