I recently applied to JMU and I am already become anxious to see my fate. JMU is my top choice and I will be very disappointed if I don't get in, but I am also remaining confident!

Here are some of my stats. I am hoping you can leave your input for my chances.

I have taken many honors classes and only 1 AP class, statistics. I have gotten mostly As and a few Bs and only 1 C in all of high school. I have taken 4 and a half years of math, 3 and a half years of Spanish, 4 years of SS, 4 years English, and 4 years science (including biology, chem, and physics)

I have participated in about 5 clubs and traveled to Spain, Greece, and London and Paris with my school. I also played varsity lacrosse for one season. I have complete 53 hours of community service.

I have also been on high honor roll all four years up until the current trimester and was awarded scholar athlete status when playing lacrosse.

I would appreciate any input! Thank you for your time and good luck with your college choices :)

Competition to get into JMU (S and 2 neighbor’s kids attend or graduated recently) has become tougher. Much depends if in or out of state, and if in state, are you from an area that is more competitive (Northern VA).

I’ve seen data showing GPA, SAT and decision by college for HS & county-wide. That data is hidden on the HS Blackboard site. Your guidance office may have similar information if JMU is a popular college at your school. I do not know how the JMU admissions office assesses GPA, SAT, and other factors, and what adjustments they make for in state vs OOS. Feel free to draw your own conclusions from this limited information. Good luck!

My in-state/out-of-state situation is quite confusing. I have lived in New Hampshire my entire life and attended high school here but my dad moved to Virginia in April, so I am technically applying out-of-state, but I am requesting in state tuition due to my dad paying taxes to Virginia. I do not know whether this will make it more or less competitive

obviously if you could obtain instate status that would increase your chances but i think you still have a good chance as an oos. You have a good gpa it could be higher but will be good enough and maybe your courses could have been harder(more APs). You have a very good SAT score which would put you in a good position compared to the JMU avgs. All in all you have a good chance of acceptance and RD is easier than early action.
