Hi there,

It's about time for me to apply to colleges. I've been looking into this for a while now (a full year), and I've decided that my top choice, by far, is James Madison. They have a great English and music program, and I'm not sure exactly which I want to do yet but I know I'll be wanting to teach one of those subjects. they also have an outstanding male acapella group, which is a must have for me. Anyway, here are my stats right now:

I'm a white male, I live in Connecticut, And I'm going to be a hs senior next year.

My gpa (unweighted) is a 3.42, and I got a combined 1720 on my sat (cr and math were an 1100).

I took AP music theory my junior year, and next year I'll be taking ap phsych, English, and gov. My junior year, I also took honors Chem, and honors English and history (which at my school makes up a two class, semi conjoined course called humanities).

As for my ec's, I've been in choir my whole high school career (two choirs my sophomore and junior year, although one was cut this year so next year it'll be just one), My sophomore and junior year I auditioned and was accepted into the new England music festival, also my junior year I auditioned as was accepted into the eastern regional music festival. The accepted students from THAT festival are given the opportunity to also audition for the CT all state music festival. I auditioned for that as well and was accepted. That year, I was the only choir student from my school that was accepted (but not the only one that auditioned). Last year, I confounded a coed acapella group at my school with two others, and we performed at our school's last concert very successfully. Next year, I'll be one of the co presidents and one of the judges for the auditions we'll hold next year. For the second half of my freshman year, I also was a member of the drama club's props department. Last summer, I was in the ensemble for our local community theatre's production of children of eden, and this summer Im in the featured ensemble and play the messenger for their production of the wiz. I'll probably audition for my schools musical next year as well ( or I may play in the pit, but that's a huge maybe). I also joined
My church's choir about halfway through this year, and lll be returning to them next year as well. I also am a self-taught bass guitarist, which is what I'd play In the pit if I decided to do that.

I realize my stats aren't exactly stellar, but I'd like to know what the most important things for me to do are so I can make jmu happen. Also, if you know of anywhere, I am still looking and not completely set on any one place. Ideally, I need a school whose tuition and all fees ( including room and board) are under $34,000, and one that has great acapella and music.

Again, right now I'm most concerned with y jmu chances and what to change or next year so I can hopefully be accepted. I'll be applying early decision, just throwing that in there.

Thanks for taking the time to read this ( sorry it was so long, haha ).

P.s. two things I forgot to
Mention. I've already asked two really good teachers of mine for letters of recommendation, and they've already agreed. Also, I'm going on a 4 day college trip next week, and I'm gonna go see a bunch of schools ( jmu included), but I'll be going as far south as Tennessee, so if there's anywhere that's on the way that has what I'm looking for, I'd almost certainly add it to my itinerary.

Thanks again for reading
