Chances for MCB

My brother has an interest in the business school at ND. He is currently a junior in high school and I’m just wondering what your thoughts are on his chances and what he could do over the next 2 years to improve them.

white male from a $500,000+ income bracket
currently ranks 9/215 in his class
GPA is a 4.38/5
took AP US history as a sophomore and got a 4
Junior year schedule is honors english, honors prelcalc, AP psych, AP bio, spanish 4 honors and marketing ( we have limited APs at our high school and it is really not possible to take more than 3 a year due to block scheduling)
scored a 183 on PSATs as sophomore (will take SATs in fall)
scored a 680 on the history subject test
2 sport athlete
volunteered to keep score at children’s basketball games
member of business club
he got invited to apply for NHS and is doing so currently

any advice is appreciated

Assuming the PSAT will represent the SAT perfectly, your brother is estimated to get an 1830 on the SAT. This is a fairly low score for ND, considering that 2 part average is 1400-1530. He should definitely study to strengthen this part of the app.

He may want to increase his extra curricular as well, as 2 clubs and keeping score at a sporting event is probably not enough to woo over the admissions staff. Also, he should try to get some more leadership roles to build up his resume.

Class rank is obviously pretty good, and his gpa is nice as well. All schools are different in gpa reporting, so I’ll assume 4.38 is high at his school. Other than those things, just make sure he keeps working at it, and hopefully things work out!
