Chances for me at Notre Dame, Boston College, UVA, Wake Forest, and Villanova

No, don’t be insecure about yourself, but also you need to lower the cockiness in your descriptions. karma’s a pain so, don’t let it catch up with you.

Yeah, @yayeetya it is a proven fact that has been talked about continuously by Notre Dame admissions officers, that although they are Catholic institutions, usually Private school kids (have a 34-38% worse chance) get into Notre Dame less than Public School Kids. Sorry to be a killer, but it is the truth. Wishing you Good Luck - Solid Application.

@notredameeconman @yayeetya That is probably why I got into Notre Dame (so excited to go there). I did something similar to @yayeetya but made sure to focus on not padding my resume with "seemingly intensive/involved EC’s that I might have joined sophomore or junior year. Usually, high school counselors or even private admissions counselors will say to do this. While it used to work it is becoming less and less effective. While your high positions on these organizations are impressive, with applications such as these, colleges like Notre Dame, UVA, and BC will see straight through that and realize that they are non-genuine and not deep passions of the applicant. Sorry to be a disappointment, but I would hope that no of these schools noticed this.

Only a 33 super score will likely lower you chances at schools especially BC, UVA, and Wake by about 20-30%

My extra curriculars I’m passionate about and have done most of them for all 4 years, such as my Neri club and Operation Smile club.

Not true. Its actually quite the opposite. Notre Dame accepts an overwhelmingly amount of students from private schools.

I’m also not sure why you think my extra curriculars are ‘non-genuine’; I enjoy doing them and they are important to me.

@yayeetya because they appear to be very basic and are not reflective in what you do outside of school. The admissions officer at ND when I was applying said they want to see students take their interest, volunteering, and passions which they show inside the classroom to the same level outside the classroom.

@yayeetya are they important to you or your resume and what colleges are going to think of you? Be careful with what you portray yourself as, because one colleges love and other colleges hate, it seems like your EC’s full into the second one. Not being rude, just being honest, and as an ND student who got into Notre Dame with only a 1390 superscore SAT, I can guarantee this part of the application is more important to schools like Notre Dame than it appears.

This is exactly what is important, kudos to you.

Although I can’t chance you I just wanted to respond that your ECs are fine. I know how demanding playing competitive hockey is and I am sure you spend 20+ hours per week on that. Athletes have many desirable qualities, even if they aren’t recruited. Your other ECs are also very good, and even better that you find meaning in all of them. Good luck with your admissions!

Thanks! I got deferred:(

At least it’s not a no. I’m a current ND student accepted REA but have friends who were deferred. Make sure to Email your admissions counselor and thank them for keeping you in consideration. Let them know you plan to attend if accepted RD. And send an email a month with updates. They especially want to see the service aspect. Remember the mission is for ND students to be a force for good in the world. Make sure they see that in your updates. Good luck
