Any help appreciated.

There are lots of unrealistic lists on cc today.

As I read through your post I thought, please don't let me find a list of ivies at the end. Too many Bs, GPA/scores sub par, ORM and probably from an overrepresented state like CA. Upper middle class (Stanford summer program, JA are paid for summer treats).

Wharton with a 710 math and a 690 SATII? An athlete couldn't get in with that. Just not happening. Columbia? Totally unrealistic.

Swat maybe if you improve scores.

just improve your SAT II scores, and u could probably get into UCB and UCLA. my cousin got into UCLA with the same GPA as yours, he got lower SAT I but higher SATIIs, and he did no ECs. My friend also got a GPA like yours with some ECs and same SAT I and high SAT IIs and got into UCB. my cousin's roommate got accepted with a 3.9 avg gpa (no honors or AP) 1960 on SAT I with a 470 CR

Chances at University of Chicago and Claremont McKenna as well?

The real question I have for you is: why? Why the schools on your list? Why Wharton, Swat and UC schools? I don't see any unifying theme to the schools; I see scattershot "good schools."

Though you might not be at the top of the superelite application pool, there are many many many many many good schools that would love to have you. Think about what you want in a school, where you want to be, what you want to be able to do, and where you want to study and how, and then come back to us.

philosophy and economics are both offered through penn's CAS...wharton is a business school

Claremont McKenna and University of Chicago especially appeal to me because of their strong economics programs and I feel that I would fit in those two environments, however different they might be. I am looking forward to the Uncommon Application immensely but at the same time enjoy Claremont's pragmatic approach.

Penn Wharton--Reach
Duke--Slight Reach
Columbia--Match to Slight Reach
Swarthmore--Match
UCB--Match
UCLA--Match
UCSD--Match
UCI--Safe Match
UCSB--Safe Match
Chicago--Match
Claremont McKenna--Slight Reach

I don't know why people think you have no chance at Columbia--your grades are around a 3.8/4.2 (Columbia's averages), your test scores are slightly above Columbia's averages, and your ECs are fairly impressive--though maybe not outstanding. (Congressional advisory board and 3 years of varsity tennis, along with a black belt and winning business awards in two different areas aren't all that bad). Personally, I think you will barely miss out on Columbia--but with a decent group of essays and great recommendations I think you have a shot. (Now Wharton's--that's another story)

I still don't understand how any of you guys calculate you weighted GPA. On a 5 point scale are you allotting 5 points for an A in an H/AP class and then 4 points for a B in an H/AP class. Then for an A level class, 4 points for an A and then 3 points for a B?? Thats how my school told me to do it, I need to make sure im doin it right. I know there are thousands of other ways to calc Weighted GPA, but this is the pretty standard one right?

I'd say go for UCB and claremont mckenna they both seem like good choices if you live in California and you look like a match/slight reach for them both.

Don't let CollegeKid's cynicism and complete lack of propriety stop you from applying anywhere. Sure, you're not going to going to get into any hypercompetitive schools based on your stats alone, but your stats certainly don't take you out of the running. There will be kids with SAT scores 200 points higher that get rejected at the schools you're applying to, and kids with scores 200 points lower than you receiving big acceptance letters in the mail (I know a white, upper class athlete with an 1810 who will be going to Wharton next year). So you're not an athlete? Your an overrepresented race? Whatever. I know an Asian with a 2090 going to Harvard next year because he wrote a great essay and has some interesting, though not jaw-dropping extracurriculars. Maybe take the SAT again, maybe not.

My interpretation:

Penn Wharton--Reach
Duke--Reach
Columbia--Reach
Swarthmore--Reach
UCB--Match
UCLA--Match
UCSD--Match
UCI--Safe Match
UCSB--Safe Match
Chicago--High Match/Slight Reach
Claremont McKenna--High Match

I think a lot of people underestimate Swarthmore's selectivity. It is a very, very competitive applicant pool. If you have some good essays I think you'll be very happy with your results in the spring. UChicago can be very forgiving (though you have nothing to apologize for, all around great stats) if you write a very good essay. Nice work!

Edit: I'm a strong advocate of LAC educations. You might want to check out some more of them, here's a list of one's you might be interested in

Williams
Amherst
Middlebury
Bowdoin

These are all east coast schools, which might explain why you're not including any in your search, but you might want to check them out.
I understand you're from California and thus they might not have as much name brand recognition as you might want as they are small east coast schools, but they are nevertheless very competitive and will set you up very will in grad school/job placement. Take care

Thank you very much for the help. I was looking at Williams, Amerst, and Bowdoin but the admit threads on college confidential made me think I have no chance at getting in. I have come to realize what I want in a school is an intimate atmosphere so I will definitely look more into those colleges. I am not really looking for an amazing brand name, just a place that brings out the best in me, and I think Claremont McKenna is that place.

The four schools I listed are quite comparable to CMC with their admissions criteria. Amherst and Williams are a bit more difficult, and Bowdoin and Middlebury are very similar. If you like CMC you should definitely check them out.
