I really want to know if you think I have a good shot at MIT or UChicago EA. I REALLY want to get into one of these schools. I know they're drasitcally different, but I think I'd be happy at either. I think I can write some pretty good essays, and my teacher and counselor recommendations will be great. I know my counselor will talk about how I'm very driven (I skipped French IV H and Pre-Calculus H to get into AP French and AP Calc.).

Edit: I know it seems like I have a "laundry list" of ECs. I'll modify that for when I actually apply to be just the ones that are most important.

Yes, you have a chance at both of them. I think you would get into Chicago, but MIT is unpredictable.

Chicago, seems like a match.
MIT, you have just as much chance as anyone else. Just a suggestion, but only put on the ECs you are most dedicated to, if there are any just floating around, not that there might be^^

Oh, missed that last part of the message of yours so you can just ignore the lattest part of my previous message.^^

bump...

wow, this thread moves fast.

Match for both.
Chicago b/c of it's acceptance rate.
MIT b/c of it's acceptance rate for girls.

I predict that you will be accepted at Chicago EA, and deferred at MIT to be later waitlisted or accepted (not sure which).

buuuuuuump

I really think you'll get into both EA.

Chicago because, although it's a great school, it's not that hard to get into.

And MIT because, although they won't admit it, they admit girls like crazy during EA because they know EA students have a higher yield (more likely to attend), thus boosting their female population.

Neither is a guarantee though...both schools are known to throw plenty of oddballs.

once again, a bump. opinions from people who were accepted/rejected/deferred EA at either or both of these schools would be greatly appreciated. also, any tips for my application to spice it up some?

I like your chances at MIT.

Sadly... one more bump. All these opinions are great, but I want a few more. Greedy me.

i would say if you right a decently good essay, ur in at chicago for sure.
You would really have to bomb the essay to be rejected.
As for MIT, pretty unpredictable. You have the stats, but so do thousands of other applicants.

I'd tend to agree with everyone on your chances at UChicago. MIT is very unpredictable but you shouldn't count yourself out by any means. You're a female with very good scores and the EA advantage which will definitely help.

Hmm... one final bump, just for the fun of it.

Also, if I don't get into MIT or UChicago, anyone have any recommendations for safety schools?

Instead of making excuses, like "MIT because they have no girls" or "Chicago because of its admit rate", how about this:

I think you'll get in because you look INTELLIGENT, highly MOTIVATED, and INTERESTING.

Is that better? :)
