I’m interested in knowing how you manged to do research at Oxford. Mind sharing?

Not a chance, but do reply: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1062425-help-international-please-recommendations.html</a></p>

Thanks. I sent you a PM regarding the Oxford research thing.
Any others willing to chance me?

hm. while a 2300 is good enough for say cornell, it most likely is not good enough for an asian applying to harvard. cornell really likes high gpas, so a 3.7 is a bit low, but definitely not a deal breaker i don’t think. also note that cornell only cares about your math+cr scores. so, what did you get out of 1600? that’ll give me a better impression. what are your sat 2 scores? oh yeah, cornell doesn’t do score choice. your ECs and camps look great =) what are your ap test scores? i think that 5s on ap tests do make a difference in college admissions. also, cornell really likes fit. in your cornell essay, you need to write about the college within cornell you’re applying to. note that the acceptance rate for CAS is like 15% whereas the acceptance rate for human ecology is like 35%.

good luck with ap physics c xP i’m in ap physics b and ugggh i do not like.

i think that if everything i just mentioned is no problem, you have a solid chance at cornell =) and also probably washu, john hopkins, uchicago, and maybe upenn. the others are reaches i think.

also, at the person above, i’d say uchicago is just as selective as cornell. anecdotal evidence: i got accepted at cornell but deferred by uchicago.

I know several Asians who got into Harvard with 2200-2300 SAT scores; last year, an Asian girl from my school was accepted with a 2280. While a score higher than 2300 would of course increase the OP’s chances, I don’t think it qualifies as “not good enough.”

You are the atypical candidate for schools like harvard, for asian girls. However if you can show a special talent or passion you have it can really compliment your application

Sorry, you meant typical right?

The above posts have been helpful, thanks. More chances would be greatly appreciated.
I will chance back within a couple of hours.

Need specifics on what composes your GPA… that’s how an adcom will do it… that is, not look at an aggregate GPA, but see how you did in the tougher classes, like Calc BC, and any classes that seem to relate to what you might pursue at H.

I received A’s in all my classes (including Calc BC) up until this semester.

This semester I received a B in AP Physics, and I got a B+ (as in, one point away from an A) in both Chemistry and Stats.

I feel like you have a better chance than most have indicated. Ross program admissions is incredible, and doing research this summer will hopefully lead to something cool.

I recommend looking into the AMC this year–anyone who went to Ross should easily make the next level (AIME) and even approach US Olympiad level. If it isn’t administered at your school, it might be at a nearby university.

I find it really surprising that someone could do Ross then get a B+ in stats

Yes. I turned in late homework assignments but did well on the two tests we had. Unfortunately, homework counts quite a bit so my grade dropped a little. Pretty careless on my part.

So it is my belief that all the schools you are applying to will be reaches, ranging from a low to high, since all the colleges listed are ones that evaluate a student holistically rather than test scores. You seem to have an affinity in math, great, now show your passion. You have several accomplishments in competitions, but look to help the community. Start a math club, specifically helping kids in math, at your school become president. You need to make your charity work noticeable, great amount of volunteer hours at the hospital, but anything significant done there? Especially for Harvard, Yale, and Princeton you need to show them a passion, and who you really are as an individual. You have the test scores that qualify you, but its your true you that gets you accepted

Alright, chanced you. Any more people willing to chance me? I want as much feedback as possible. Thank you!

I would say you’re in good work. Chance me Plss
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1067379-chance-me-if-you-can.html</a></p>

Thanks for chancing me. I think you
re a pretty decent applicant overall. I would say all reaches except for JHU and WashU, maybe UChicago too. What I could see really hurting you is the 3.7. Your ECs are solid but don
t really pop out.

I would say that the likelihood of getting into most of those schools is high. Well, considering that Ivy league is very random on confirmation, unless you did something significant. Also, considering that you are asian, which may make a difference since there are so many of them with very high scores HYP might be much more difficult. For the rest, Cornell, WashU, and Brown, i’d say your a 60-70% in. Finish that research thing, and that becomes a great ec!
UPenn and UChicago im not sure of. I have’t really looked into those schools with much depth.
But good luck!

Thanks guys! Anyone else want to chance me?
