lol.. im pretty damn nervous about UC's though. it seems to me from this CC.com forum, that a lot of 1400-1500 got rejected from UC's, whilst many 1200-1300 (same hooks&ec's or less) got in... HMMM..??

anyone have any other input please?

MIT: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Yale: Reach
UCLA: Match
UCB: Match
UCSD: Safety

While you don't stand out above the field, BELOW UCLA? Gimme a break.

You're UCB and up material. Don't let that stupid councelor tell you what to do.

And apply to all of your schools - it really doesn't cost that much...and you might be able to get in.

hm thanks..

I'm a high school student and I really don't know much on what colleges look for but I did have a couple of friends who went to schools you were asking about. Last year, my tennis buddy (TED) got into MIT with a perfect SAT score and all 5's on his ap's. Not to say this is the only way to get in, he calmed my nerves of getting into prestigious colleges by saying that being a "well-rounded" person in all areas and having a particular interest or "passion" will be enough. ***** Now as for my other close buddy, recently, Stanford accepted her. She told me that her method was that a "very interesting" recommendation letters from both letters, a "passion" for something, and leadership. Unlike TED, she got lower scores (even lower than yours); yet, her leadership in many humanities projects got her in.

*** By the look of your scores, AP's, etc, you'll definitely get into UCB and UCLA for sure. Based on the info my friends gave me, I highly think you will be accepted from Stanford and possibly (10%) from MIT.

I want to go to Stanford, so im seeking advice as well. GOOD LUCK!!!!

by the way, i can ask my friends for more info about admission. if ya want me to =P

lol your councellor is nut, (sorry if offended)
i got into Irvine and i have 2.8gpa
not only that IM FROM CANADA AKA OUT OF STATE :P
and my other stats are just semi-decent..

Where in Canada are you from?
I'm from Ontario.

I'm from Vancouver, Canada.
I go to St. George's School, heard of it?
You?

lol thanks donut. i think my stanford chance is like 20% . =_=

BTW, to add to my stats posted, nSAT Score: 800M/700V/760W 11:essay/70grammar = 2230.

That's why you can't get into MIT. 800+700+760 clearly equals 2260.

LOL. sorry i meant 730. typo

You tired my score! Only I got 790,740. Damn.
I missed the "edges of a cube" math problem.

i tired your score indeed.
i missed 1 math problem also, i think the curve was 800-0 800-1 790-2.
i missed the (2x²)-(2y²)>25 or something of that sort.

bumping: to reiterate, "BTW, to add to my stats posted, nSAT Score: 800M/700V/760W 11:essay/70grammar = 2230."

so many others in this forum have gotten into schools i only dreamed of attending. jezus.. i can only hope you "best of luck."

Objectively speaking, UC Berkeley is a match. I am assuming that you are applying for the Engineering based on your choices of SATII’s and other college choices. Your EC’s are a bit unoriginal so you will need to find a way to make yourself seem more "interesting because Engineering is one of the most competitive at UC B. I’m being hard on you because I see so many students with similar grades/sat/act scores which don’t get in because of lack of originality.

Princeton doesn’t have ED (they dropped it with Harvard).
