Hi! I’m a senior in high school and I’m applying to eight different schools for their music programs for voice performance (University of Michigan, Indiana University, DePauw University, New York University Steinhardt, Penn State University, Northwestern University, University of Illinois and the Cleveland Institute of Music). I’ve been singing since I was about 5 but I’ve been taking private lessons for the past eight years. I got a lead in my junior year musical and I have the female lead this year. I’ve been in my high school madrigal choir for two years now and I’m the only girl to have ever been in it for two years (most only get one). I’ve gotten auditions at 5 of my 8 schools I’m still waiting to hear back from Indiana, Northwestern and DePauw. The thing I’m concerned about are my grades. I’ve made a gradual improvement since I started my freshman year but my overall GPA this year is a 3.4 and I got a 26 on my ACT. Will this make a bigger impact than my audition? I also go to a more academically challenging high school so will colleges take this into a factor as well? Sorry for all the questions!! Thanks so much for all the help!!!
