Okay, although I'm applying to 11 schools, 3 have really stood out to me. My top three choices are Duke (ED), Tulane, and UMichigan, both of which I've applied to EA. What are my chances at these schools? Here are my stats:

State: NJ
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: White

GPA: 3.97/4 UW, 4.20/4.5 W
Rank: School does not rank
SAT I (superscore): 2250 (720 CR, 750 M, 780 W)
SAT II: 800 Math II, 740 Spanish
AP: Spanish Language (4), Calc BC, Chem, Psych all TBD

ECs:
Softball-JV captain as a junior (not sure if I'll be playing this year, so 9-11)
Tutor for elementary school students (9-12)
Chemistry tutor (12)
School paper-serving as sports editor as senior (10-12)
Summer overnight camp counselor (12)
Jewish leadership group member (9-12)
Peer mentor for 7-9th graders (11-12)
NHS (11-12)

*I know it's not too many, but I feel like I've demonstrated commitment in a lot of them

Essays: Just finished my common app essay; it's about my experience working at summer camp. I know they say not to write about camp, but it takes a new angle than most would.
Recommendations: Physics teacher's should be superb. Math teacher also wrote me a good one. Also am sending in a supplemental from my newspaper adviser-she loves me and told me she couldn't show it to me until June because right now we'd both cry LOL

So, my top three:
Duke ED
Tulane EA
Michigan EA

Chances? Thx.

I think you’ll get in at Duke early.

Nice test scores/grades, but course load and ECs are going to be your weak points. Match for UMich and Tulane, reach for Duke

Thanks guys. Bumping this.

Low/mid reach for Duke(supplements?), match for the other two. Grades and scores are nice, but I’m curious about your supplements. What do you think? Good, bad or ugly?

I’m applying to Trinity, and I had a friend of mine (a current Duke sophomore) read my “Why Duke” essay, which she said was pretty good. It took a pretty unique take.

For my EC essay I wrote about the exchange program I participated in with Israeli kids throughout my first 3 years in HS. I hope that because the program is really the first of its kind that I know of, my experience with it will help. What do you think?

Keep 'em coming, kiddos.

Chanced both of you guys back. Thanks again.

Your in at all three in my opinion

Definitely in UMichigan, and you are a very strong candidate for the other two.Good Luck!

VERY strong applicant for all three schools, I would say your best chance is with UMichigan. Honestly, make sure your essays are solid, and I think you will be set!

Oh and if “gobluedevils” is referring to DCI, I officially adore you.

Haha, no, it’s actually referring to Duke’s mascot. Thank you guys! More opinions are absolutely welcome.

Bump again…I just got accepted to Tulane, so chances for Duke and UMich would be welcome!

I’m applying ED too! It would be so cool if we both got in. Good luck :)

I think Duke ED is a low reach/reach. That is just because you are average academically, but are not so much EC wise. However great letters of rec and essays could be a significant boost. Especially if you wrote the Duke supplements very well. Good luck I hope you get in! I’m applying ED as well. It would be awesome to see you there next year!

Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1561842-chance-me-duke-ed-will-chance-back-within-24-hours-4.html

Duke: Low-mid reach
UMich: High Match

I think you’re in at Michigan (congrats on Tulane!), and you’ve got a great shot at Duke provided your essays are very good.

Chance me back?
