Chances for Northwestern?

I'm a rising senior who is going to be applying to colleges in the fall. I would really appreciate if you could chance me for Northwestern.

US History (4), Calculus BC (Will take), Chemistry (Will take), Physics B (Will take)

ACT: 32

Subject Tests (Will take in October so these scores are expected with a good amount of studying)
Math II - 750 +
Physics - 700+

Recommendations: Should be good

Essays: Should be good

Also any school suggestions with my stats?

Thanks a lot!

Your grades/rank look good, but you’re SAT is low for Northwestern, so I’d agree that you should submit your ACT. Your ACT is middle range for Northwestern and your ECs are decent. I would suggest retaking ACT if you have time and think you can do better to increase chances. As of now you have a good shot, but you really need to stick out in your personal statements or recs. You might consider ED, which would boost your chances a lot, but for RD you have a good shot. Good luck :)

Other Schools (similar prestige to Northwestern)
-UMichigan, Wash U, Cornell…

Your grades are fine, but your SAT is a problem. I definitely would stick with the ACT, where it looks like you should be aiming for a 33-34 to have the best shot possible.

Extracurriculars look…standard. some sports, some honor societies, some clubs. not bad, not weak, but not great either.

Why did you quit football, baseball and wrestling in 11th grade? It just looked weird (to me anyway)

Another problem is no leadership roles.

So, NU is unlikely at best, even with a better ACT score. This upcoming year, I would work on getting some leadership roles in the clubs you are supposedly so involved with.

I won’t recommend schools for you because I don’t know you. Big/small? city/rural? east coast/west coast/great plains? religious/unaffiliated? big aid/full ride?

I have no idea, but try the college search and selection forum, it might help.

Also try checking out the NU results threads from years past to try to see if you can get a sense of where you stand.
