- Wanted to take AP Spanish V, but my school is not offering it next year
- Would have taken AP Lit., but decided to focus more on engineering specific courses than learning how to write a sonnet and decoding Shakespeare
- Part of the DukeTIP program in 7th Grade by taking the ACT. Scored fairly high for a middle schooler and got an award for it. (not sure if this counts for much)
- Caucasian, not a legacy, NC resident

Strengths: GPA, Course load, Interest in Engineering (Camps, 4 years of PLTW engineering courses)
Weaknesses: EC's, Test Scores

Thanks again for any comments or responses, I really appreciate it!

That 31 ACT must come up. Otherwise the odds of admission are stacked against you.

Your grades are good. Having 6 AP classes is good. However, remember that most applicants to ND will have a similar record. You are competitive with this record, but you will not stand out.

Your ECs need to be repackaged. I recognize that posting on CC is a limiting format, but it appears that you are overly concerned with lists and titles. Learn how to emphasize accomplishments and impact instead of just activity. No one cares that you have spent ten years registered for soccer if, for an extreme example, you rarely played in any games. Also, you should realize that there is some debate about the value of summer “enrichment” programs. Did you actually make the world a better place, or did your parents simply want to write a check and send you to a prestigious sounding summer camp?

I would tend to agree with NDDad that unless your test scores increase, your chances are limited. You can mitigate it somewhat by starting to work now on your essays and talking to your teachers about how to package your recommendations. Based on your leanings toward STEM classes and away from humanities, you might be someone who struggles to have their full voice contained in their application.

your grades and ec’s look good, but you are going to have to pull up that 31 to match. a 33 or higher and you’re set. chance me back?
