Chances for NYU and BU

Soo, I'm not expecting much because my grades are pretty average and my scores suck, but. :) I applied to Comm for BU and Arts&Sciences for NYU. My stats:

GPA: B+, we don't use a 4 point scale, soo... I think it's a 3.4. UW.
AP/Honors Classes: 5 AP, my school offers 7. AP Studio Art, AP U.S. History, AP European History, AP Literature & Composition, AP Biology. I've taken all honors courses for throughout. Done well (B or higher) in all except math (C's).
SAT: 1910... I know, ew. 720 CR, 680 W, and the painful part, 510 M (I really, really suck at math. Really.)
I also took two SAT IIs, Literature (680) and US History (620)
I'm in the top ten percent. I'm currently set to graduate with 6 English credits, 4.5 Social Studies/History credits, 5 Science credits, 3 Math credits, and 3 Foreign Language credits.
I come from an extremely small (pop. 9,000), poor Maine town.

Extracurriculars:
+ President of the Drama Club (3 years of involvement, we just won runner up for our class, we've also won best ensemble and best atmosphere). This is my baby, and depending on the season, I generally put in about 10-15 hours a week.
+ Going into my third production as assistant director for Drama Club. I've been a lead twice.
+ 2nd year as a member of our Green Team, which is 2 years old. We've implemented a recycling program and won a grant to build a garden on the grounds. We're preparing to start seeding, in fact :)
+ 2nd year as a member of our Anime Club, which is 2 years old
+ I was in the Tech Club for 3 years
+ I'm the student editor of our yearly student publication, Quill, and this is my 3rd year of involvement
+ I am a member of the National Honor Society
+ I am one of the most active members of a town committee that is dedicated to reviving and drawing business to the town. We host an annual concert series, Valentine's Dance, and Christmas celebration. I've been with the committee since its creation, I have 100+ hours of service.
+ I have won the Poetry Out Loud school competition twice
+ I won a Performing Arts award and an Excellence in Art award from the school
+ I also received a certificate of appreciation from my town for the community service I put in towards it.
+ In 2008, I attended a People to People Leadership Summit for Young Women in NYC at Columbia.
+ And probably the most impressive thing on my resume, I won a scholarship to attend the 2009 Korea-U.S. Youth Network. I went over to South Korea for two weeks in a cultural exchange to foster relations between US youth and Korean youth and to actively learn about the history and culture there. I even saw the Demilitarized Zone :DD WHICH WAS SCARY/AWESOME/TERRIFYING. Stayed in Seoul mostly, went to classes at Yonsei University, spent a few days with a host family, went to museums, palaces, a Buddhist temple, the city. Etc.

Ahhh. I think that's everything. I wrote my essay on how my brother, who is a child with Down Syndrome, shaped me into becoming a fiercely open-minded individual who viciously defends justice and respect for everyone, and how that's pushed me to break out of every type of ignorance, including making me want to experience as many cultures as possible and know as much as possible. Pretty cliche, I guess, but I liked it.

My short answers for NYU were about my experience as assistant director, how NYC would be so different for me, coming from a baby ex-mill town and how incredible an experience it would be because one of my primary goals in life is to become exposed to many world cultures, and that the person I'd like to speak to with the most is Gnl. William Tecumseh Sherman (someone invent a time machine so I can marry that man) in my favorite indie cafe/theatre place. My short answers for BU were pretty much the same about wanting to live in a big city, especially having so many film opportunities, etc etc.

I applied for financial aid... I need it, but my family's in the middle bracket where we're not poor but not gigantically wealthy, so. :/

AND I THINK THAT'S EVERYTHING? Thankssss :)

I don’t pretend to know anything about NYU, but I think that you have a good shot at BU.

Oh, also, is an idiot, I had a two month internship with a local costume shoppe. Good fun, got to work with vintage, take orders, costumer service, pretty much packaged, labeled, and delivered the entire Halloween season purchases/rentals. September was more relaxed, but in October I was seeing roughly 20 hours a week.

AND THANK YOU.

Np! I’d appreciate you looking at my thread in this forum about Notre Dame if you could.

i think you have a good shot at BU given your very good/interesting extra curricular’s, for NYU maybe try and raise that SAT1 score a little to give you a better chance?

NYU: dont count on it.
BU: it’s possible with ur hooks.

also, question: if ur rlly form a poor town in mainemaybe 55,000$ a year on college tuition at NYU isn’t the best idea. They’re known for very bad financial aid, even if u do get accepted.

Bummppp? :DD I’d like another opinion for NYU. Unfortunately, I’m a senior–decision comes next Friday, I just would like to have a few opinions about how people think that’s going to go >___>

D: Yeah, I was expecting NYU to not go well. Thank you. And we CAN afford it one way or another, I have several scholarships lined up and two families. I put my location in as more of a geographical standpoint, I didn’t know if NYU and BU factored that in at all.

So, yeah, rejected from NYU. Big shocker there, cough, but I fully intend on going there as a graduate, soo. But that leaves BU! Keep chancing, pleaseee.
