First, I know that "chances" threads are a terrible way of judging and etc. but I just wanted someone else's opinion. I'm going to keep this rather short.

I'm a white male in my junior year of high school.

I went to a small private school in eastern Georgia for my freshman year. I had a 3.85 unweighted GPA.

In my sophomore year I moved to the Boston area. I'm attending a highly ranked public school (Rated 69th in the US, 7th in Massachusetts). I had a 3.75 unweighted GPA for my sophomore year. Since then it has risen back up some (I won't know how much until the end of the semester).

About half of my classes are at the honors level, and the rest are "Advanced College Prep" (between honors and CP). I have / will have four years of math, science, english, history, and a single language (Latin).

I have not yet taken any AP exams or SAT IIs. I will be taking AP Biology and AP English exams in the spring. I haven't decided which SAT II's to take yet.

On my most recent SAT, I scored a 2000 with a CR 630, M 630, and W 740. I will retake a few times in the spring.

Extracurriculars:

Guitarist / Multi-instrumentalist. I have played guitar for about 10 years, although only 6 "serious" years. I have appeared as a backup guitarist in a regional music documentary on ETV / NPR. I played with a couple of different bands and have much experience onstage. I play a variety of other instruments, although not nearly as much. I intend to try out for jazz band as a bassist next year (I know the instructor well and will probably make it). We have one of the top 20 bands in the country.

Contributor to the school newspaper for 1 year, but I have a good chance of making editor in chief next year (because my old school didn't have one, I had to start junior year as a contributor. We only have a few seniors on staff for next year, and I still have better credentials for EIC than most of the others).

Founder of my school's guitar club. It extends to more than just guitar. It's basically a routine club where we jam after school, mostly Jazz, Blues, and Rock.

Member of Latin Club, Key Club, Frisbee Club, and a few less significant ones.

Men's Volleyball at varsity level for two years. JV football for one year.

I worked one summer as an intern at a commercial photography studio. I learned a lot about advertising, marketing.

I worked another summer as an intern for the Republican Party. I learned a lot about politics, policy, strategy, etc. I will be volunteering for Charlie Baker's campaign for governor in Massachusetts. I will also be volunteering some for they GOP candidates running for Kennedy's seat.

I volunteer at the New England Aquarium on occasion. I also volunteer at a local theatre. My volunteering totals about 200 hours, but it's still growing.

This year I am working 3 days a week at a sporting goods store, in addition to school.

So, I want to apply to NYU so I can study business. I have taken a few business classes in school and I can't even express how much I love economics. It's just my choice area of study. NYU is my top choice by far. Also, I should have some good recommendations for my application.

Any thoughts on how I might do?
