chances for OOS please!

white male from ohio:

gpa: 3.4
class rank: top 25%
act: 28 (took once with no preparation, retaking oct 25)

editor for school yearbook
deca (marketing team) member, one of top 5 teams in country
job for two years working ~20 hrs weekly
internship with obama campagain.

family connections: uncle, grandmother are IU graduates, father attended but transfered.

interested in finance/investment banking, i know i wont be a direct admit but planning to apply regular decision to kelley during my freshman year (if i get into IU and attend)

so, what are my chances?

You're in. ECs don't mean anything for IU admissions, but your
stats are good enough.

thanks, i sent in the online part (basic info, ecs, etc) and i have the form i need to have my guidance counselor fill out. im retaking the ACT on the 25th, should i wait and send the counselor sheet in with my ACT scores (in case i raise the score)? or should i just send it now with my 28 act score?

Just make sure you get it in before November 1st--which is the deadline for many of the scholarship offers. These offers will either decline or go away completely once that November 1st deadline passes--and you don't want to lose "free" money for your education.

well since the act test isnt until oct 25, it wouldnt be possible to have scores in by nov1. do you guys think i will be fine getting in with a 28 act? the scholarship money is a factor, but id rather wait and get in with no money than rush my stuff in only to get denied.

I got in today with similar stats. I had a 29 ACT, 3.4 GPA, and no class ranking released.

You should definitely be in.

wow, already? when did you apply?

so, i should i apply now with my 28 ACT score to insure that i have everything submitted by the November 1 deadline? Does this mean I can submit a higher ACT score later to be reconsidered for scholarships? im really anxious to have the application completely done, but definitely want to maximize my chances of acceptance.

I applied in early September.

A 28 ACT score is very good and I am sure it is above-average for Indiana. The acceptance rate is what? 80%? You have nothing to worry about.

I got in today with a 3.8 and 1870 SAT, and I'm OOS

You'll be fine

The acceptance rate to IU-B last year was approximately 65%. That's down from 80% in 2000 and 70% in 2006.

So, it's much more difficult than it was, but the school still accepts about 2 out of 3 applicants.

To put this in perspective, admission rates at Michigan are about 50% and at Illinois are about 70% and at Michigan State are around 80%.

P.S. The Indiana University system, unlike the University of California system, does not put out admission rates to specific programs (majors).
