NOTES:

I'm interested in majoring in chemical engineering.

I skipped a grade if that means anything.

I live in the Middle East and there's many social and legal obstacles to holding a paid job anywhere; otherwise I definitely would've gotten a job.

If I could go back in time and do something more or change something, what do you guys think it would be?

Yale: Reach
Princeton: Reach

And nothing, you’re ECs and scores are fine (maybe it would’ve been better if you could’ve steered your ECs toward engineering - eg: research etc, but it’s not really a problem).

You’re qualified for both and have excellent chances. But seeing how both of their acceptance rates are around 7 and 8%, it’s still gonna be very difficult to get in

Thanks for the replies! What could I have done differently?

You said that you live in the Middle East. Do you have a US citizenship or green card? If you don’t you are an international student, so your admissions will be more competitive. But applying for FA will not hurt you, as Yale and Princeton are both need-blind schools for international students.

If you aren’t int’l, I guess you have a better shot than if you were. Nevertheless, there’s no point looking back and thinking what you could have done differently. It’s all done now. I’m not going to lie to you, getting into Yale or Princeton will be VERY difficult. The only thing you can do now is to really nail those essays and supplements.

From what I hear, you get sorted into a yes, no, or maybe pile. They’ll spend about 8 minutes deciding whether you’re a yes, no or maybe. If you get selected as a “maybe,” then they’ll pay more attention to your supplements and essays. So really nail those essays.
