Thanks

Your stats are really good, but the ECs are lacking/commonplace.

What other clubs should I join? My school year just started and they are still in the midst of announcing all the available clubs.

Thanks

It's not that you aren't in enough/the right clubs, it just seems like you're just a member. If you're going to get into Princeton you need to show some kind of leadership.

Sat II psychology? huh? i don't think that exists, or has ever existed.

Man our school offers ONLY the follow clubs
NHS
SNHS
FNHS
key club
ace team
fbla
ffla
and like these small ones. my school is so bad. i really wish they had some sci. honor society...

Oops. I guess I left something very important out :p

I'm vice president of Span Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta, and Im historian of NHS.

This seems like a bs post.

I meant physics I'm so sorry. This is NOT a joke topic.

I don't think this is a BS post. Anyway, your ECs are lacking. And before you say anything, I know that statment has a lot of controversy already, and that there is no such thing as a weak EC. However, you have asked for realistic chances for the currently no. 1 college in the world so I'd have to be truly honest with you. You have good SATs, competitive GPA, but the only thing that may be worth something is that 300+ hours of volunteer time.

Maybe you should expand on what you volunteered. Also, that can't be all you do in school. It's not just clubs. It could be anything that takes up a significant portion of time outside of regular school. ex. a job, contests ect.

However, realistically speaking, if you send this in as an application, you will get pwned.

Thanks Gryffon!

I'm going to try to get more hours from the library and I originally thought that EC was just the clubs at school. Besides that I do work as a bag boy in Publix :/ I just did not think that would help with my application.

Yeah, your work in Publix is an EC. And as Gryffon wrote, you need to break down the 300+ hours of community service. Who did you work for? Specifically, what did you do? When? Did you raise money? Was it mainly volunteering in a hospital? Was it mainly with kids or the elderly? In other words, if your volunteering had a consistent theme, it indicates a specific intererest, committment, and perhaps a passion, something many colleges look for.

Also, think for a few minutes about what you do outside of school on your own. Are there things that you devoted time to that you enjoy? Hobbies? Self-initiated projects? Church/Temple/Mosque activities? All these things are ECs.

Here's an idea: Pick up copies of The Truth About Getting In and Rock Hard Apps by Katherine Cohen. Both books do a good job of explaining what schools like Princeton are looking for, what ECs are, how to put together your app, how to present your ECs and accomplishments etc. I think they'd help you.

And by the way, you're not going to be able to rectify the EC thing by joining a bunch of clubs or getting more hours at the library in your senior year. First of all, it would look phony. Secondly, it wouldn't represent the real you. Part of the bit about ECs, is the colleges want to know about the things you do on your own, because you like to. Any way, you'd spend your time better recognizing what you've already done, and then figuring out how to present it on your app.

Princeton - reach

you have the same build as me, except with a slightly stronger gpa and a weaker sat. same crappy ecs.
