Your SAT scores are low for Middlebury. Will you be applying for financial aid?

yes i will

Admission for international students seeking aid is particularly fierce. If you could get your SAT I scores above 700 on each section, you’d stand a much better chance. Have you considered taking SAT IIs?

Yes I did see that my SAT scores were a bit low when I was checking the Middlebury website… I guess Middlebury is a reach for me… sadly, I wont be able to retake the SAT or give SAT 2’s because the deadline for the December test is already passed and I cannot give it in Jan for Fall admissions… Thanks for your reply… I’ll be sending in the application just in case…

Yeah, definitely apply. Many accepted students have “below average” scores. Don’t let that stop you.

I think realistically it is a reach. Classes at a school like Midd rely on your ability to not only read and comprehend, but also to analyse and communicate extremely complex ideas and concepts in written English. International is not need blind for acceptance either, so that will be a factor against you as well.
Of course apply, but I hope you have a back up plan, and some less selective schools on your list.

How do you think my chances are for Midd:
4.58 weighted (8 AP’s)
Cum Laude (top 5 of my class- we don’t rank)
Varsity CC/Tennis
Started recycling and composting programs at school
Raised over $15,000 for Invisible Children
Morehead-Cain Finalist
From New Orleans (No one from my school has applied in over 5 years)
Secretary of School (9, 10, 12)
ACT: 35
SAT: 750, 750, 680
SAT II’s: 780, 700
I intend to pursue Anthropology and take Cult. Anthro. classes at Tulane U. as part of their Dual-Enrollment program.
I’ve visited twice.
I sent in all my scores, even though my ACT is definitely my highest, because I only took each test once. Thanks for your opinion, I’m very worried. Will being from the deep south give me a substantial advantage?

You look really good, even if you were from NY. Coming from the South, I think you can buy your sweatshirt now, especially if your essay and recs match your scores.

sidthekid, chin up you have a lot going for you so don’t count yourself out just yet. Apply and cross your fingers. Faulkner, they have a strict no southerners policy I hear, so I wouldn’t even bother if I were you, unless you own a granola factory, in whichcase you will be wildly popular!
