ALthough I lack a sport, I am extremely devoted to CSF, NHS, and piano. Also, since I am not too confident with my SAT this morning, I wonder if should just apply to Stanford through the regular admissions? I know Stanford is a big reach, but hey, it's worth a try

Also,I plan on going in undeclared. Would that put me at some sort of disadvantage?

My uncle works at UChigago, and my grandpa speaks there often.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

your SAT I is extremely low for Stanford especially SCEA because they choose the best out of the best.
of course, if your new score gives you a CR 750+ and Writing 700+, then you enter into a somewhat safe range.. however, i don't really see anything spectacular about your grades or your e/cs. but if your essays are great, who knows?

also, did you participate in any athletics?

sorry, i'm not trying to discourage you. i am just speaking as objectively as i can as a current student.

I think a 2100+ should be fine because your class rank is 2/599 ... which is really impressive and ECs also seem good.
I think you have a real good chance at Berkeley and LA.
Stanford would be a slight reach

Stanford is highly unlikely (scores and ECs) and I wouldn't apply early. However, you'll probably get a merit scholarship at a top UC where GPA is the most important factor.

UCs rarely give merit scholarships and the only ones they give are like the regents and alumni maybe. Those are like stanford level people only.

UCB/UCLA: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCI: Safety

Based on your current stats:

-Stanford (SCEA) - Big Reach
-UChigago - Big Reach
-Columbia, Caltech, Harvard - Big Reaches

Although your class rank and GPA are quite good, your SAT scores are not on the Standford/Columbia/Caltech/Harvard/UChicago level. Even if you raise them to around 2100, all of these schools remain reaches or big reaches. If you want to look outside the UC schools, you should look at schools where the median SAT scores are about equal to yours. Here's a few you might want to consider:

Colgate
Brandeis
Oberlin
Bates
Tulane
Hamilton
Grinnell
Bard
Wake Forest
Kenyon
Connecticut College
Boston College
University of Richmond
Univ. of Rochester
NYU
Lehigh
Case Western
University of Michigan
Trinity (in CT)
Bucknell

Thanks for your input everybody. I am also sending in a fine arts supplement (piano) to Stanford and Chigago. Will that help me in anyway?

How on earth could anyone answer that question without seeing the art?

I hate it when I see people talking about how SAT scores will prevent them from being accepted to a particular school.

SAT scores QUALIFY you for a school, your EC's, essays, teacher recs, PASSION, ADMITS you into a school.

man, i am sick of people claiming garbage about passion. SATs matter and should matter more since it is one of the most standarized measure we have. ACT is useless if it ionly tests random facts that are useless. Thinking ability is more important than random facts. Unless your passion is national level, it is not going to "admit you into stanford".

It is really stupid how people degrade the sat on cc and in real life just because of supposed unfairness.

You got it half right daonly, the qualify and disqualify.

daonlykid, SATs qualify for you a school. BUT they don't get you in.
i don't know what score you have, but i've seen plenty of kids with near perfect 1600s rejected from harvard and the ivies. plenty.

If you lack passion or love, you're not getting into the school.

The colleges know that SATs measure nothing; its not even that hard of a test. It just tests test taking skills and basic knowledge.

either way, with a powerful essay or something that makes you stand out, you'll get accepted. just, makes sure to show your individuality.

stanford discourages students from sending art material that is mediocre. unless you've achieved state or national recognition, i would advise you not to.

and don't try to rely on art supplement material to get you into a top college. they look at your scores first, and if your scores qualify, they'll give a look at your extra material.

70 something % of students at stanford got a CR score of over 700. 70 something % of students Math, over 700. im guessing its the same for Writing too.
