chances for top tier schools?

<p>Hi, I'm a current sophomore at a semi-competitive magnet school in Louisville, KY.
As of now, I'm looking into Brown (dream school), Johns Hopkins, Vassar, Swarthmore, NYU, Brandeis, Amherst, BU, and Middlebury. </p>

<p>GPA: 3.8
AP scores: Human Geography (5), World History (predicted 5), Statistics (predicted 5), European History (predicted 5)
Next year, I am taking:
AP English Lang & Comp
AP Psychology
AP Macroeconomics
AP US History
Adv/MST Precalculus
Adv/MST Biology
Adv Latin 3
PSAT: 226 (as a sophomore), but practice tests put me more in the 230's range
SAT: practice tests have been between 2100 and 2300, but official was 2270.
SAT Subject Tests: World History (predicted 780-800), Mathematics I (predicted 780+)</p>

<p>EC's:
Debate Team-participant for 2 years, will most likely be captain next year
won things locally and went to NFL state tournament, almost won a TOC bid, competitive on the national circuit
Speech Team- founder, captain next year
NHS- candidate
JV Soccer- 9th and 10th grade
Competitive Soccer Travel Team- have played since I was 8
Quizbowl/Quick Recall- 9th grade, district champions
Latin Club
National Latin Exam- Honorable Merit cum laude
Science National Honor Society- member, public relations officer
Science Fair- did a project in both 9th and 10th grade, worked with a neuropsychologist at the University of Louisville, project got 2nd in Behavioural Science at Louisville Regional Science Fair and went to state science fair</p>

<p>Summer Activities:
VAMPY (summer camp for verbally and mathematically precocious youth held at Western Kentucky University for three weeks each summer)- 3 years
YMCA Overnight Camp- attend for 2-4 weeks each summer, leadership awards since I was 7
Debate Camp- Kentucky National Debate Institute @ University of Kentucky for one week; this year, I am going to Harvard's LD debate camp for three weeks on a scholarship I have won for the past summer as well as this summer (Wilson Wyatt Debate Scholarship)</p>

Ethnicity: White
Income: about 175k/year
Hooks: I'm really into social sciences and humanities even though I'm in a math science and technology magnet program
Intended Majors: Philosophy, English, maybe Psychology</p>

<p>So....does anyone think I stand a chance?</p>

<p>As with 95% of the applicants to these top schools you have excellent grades, rigorous courses, and impressive ECs. Now you need to prove you belong at these schools by writing awesome essays.
That being said, certain schools you listed have more competitive admissions than others. I assume you can figure out which ones these are with a simple google search. As with all other applicants, you have a better chance at the less competitive schools.</p>
