i just moved to the USA in december 2006 from singapore, and im going to be a senior in the fall. this puts me in a rather wierd situation:/

in singapore i was in what was very argueably the best school in the country. it was very competitive and quite hard to get into. it did nott offer weighted GPA (there is no such concept in singapore) yet all of its classes can easily be classified as honors, because they really were that difficult. it was pretty much impossible to get a 4.0 gpa there, and as far as i know, no one has gotten one yet.

when i moved to the US,my high school completely changed my transcript. the term in singapore was from jan to december, so i had to skip half of 11th grade. ive only had one semester where i could have gotten any weightage on my gpa, and for my AP courses i had to catch up with the class (half a years worth of material) by myself.

so, here are my stats:

courses taken out of school:
at local university (university of calif. irvine)
Multivariable calc (B+)
Physics(A)
at local community college (Irvine valley college)
french 3, 4

activities:
9th grade:
indian orchestra
english drama
english debate
indian cultural society
tribune (newsletter)

10th grade
tribune
indian cultural society
indian orchestra

11th grade
YAT
smile club (community service)

community service

2005-2006: spent 2 hours weekly teaching underprivilaged kids to read
46 other misc. hours of service
2007: local youth action team (it took an interview to get in etc), lots of hours expected (probably greater than 300, no exaggeration)

also:
research internship at institute of molecular biology and chemistry (singapore)
work experience at national cancer centre

so based on the above, what do you think are my chances of getting into a good college like, say, berkeley or stanford?
thanks for reading this and replying(:
