Chances for Transfer Spring 2010

*Sorry for cross-posting on the forums, I'm getting my bearings on the site and just found this forum.

I'm anxiously waiting (and constantly checking the status website) for news on my admission to UT for next spring. I'm extremely paranoid and hoping someone can help shed light on my chances for admission? I'm a non-traditional student: single mom, work full-time, school part-time, and 28, so pretty different than their normal pool of applicants (something I made sure to highlight and sell in my statement of purpose). I have a current GPA of 3.55 at ACC and have completed a little over 60 hours already, I'm also an honors student and Phi Theta Kappa member. I've applied to the College of Liberal Arts as a Psych (BS) major, and seriously considering taking the pre-med route.

I can't really think of a reason that I wouldn't get in, other than the TX top 10% rule taking up too many spaces and leaving transfer students in the lurch, but I can't help being stressed. I'm at the end of the timeframe I can keep taking courses at ACC because of the hours in-residence requirements of basically every school on the planet, and I just want to get my BS done and over with. UT is where I really want to be, it has a very reputable Psych program and it's convenient (I live in Austin proper). My back-ups are TX State (bleh) and Southwestern, where I'm essentially guaranteed acceptance through an articulation agreement with my CC, but it's far from my house and so danged expensive.

Any information, shared experiences, guidance. reality check or encouragement is greatly appreciated! Also any idea when I might be notified?

I have never heard of anyone with over a 3.5 not getting into liberal arts. I think you are fine. It is normal to be anxious though and I’m sure you will not be able to relax until you see the actual acceptance. Unless things are radically different now than a year ago or different in spring instead of fall, I would say you are in.

I agree with Fiyero. I say you’re in.

I have a friend at Soutwestern and from what I saw there, it is non-stop party party party. I think more than half of the student population is greek (or at least it seems). Other than that, thier pre-med program is stellar.
