Chances for transfer

I know Holy Cross doesn't take a lot of transfers because of the high retention rate, but I'm interested in trying to transfer.

-I'm a freshman at Boston College with a 3.4 GPA. I was accepted to Holy Cross last year but chose to attend BC (I don't know if this helps or hurts my shot).
-My high school transcript is great (As and Bs in APs)
-I held several leadership positions and am now involved in a few diverse activities at BC (one music, one community service, one academic)
-One of my parents went to Holy Cross and is actively involved in the alumni community
-I have a 32 ACT
-My greatest academic strength is writing so my transfer essay should be pretty good, and I'm of course willing to interview.
Is this enough to combat the low transfer acceptance rate?

I think that the fact that a parent went to HC and is actively involved will up your chances significantly. Both schools are run by the Jesuits so there is mutual respect between the institutions so that will help as well.

We highly encourage potential transfer students to interview. Just as with potential first-year students, the interview is a great way for us to get to know you as a person, beyond your application and essays.

You can call our office (508-793-2443) to discuss when it fits your schedule.

Best of luck!
