I’m awaiting the Tufts regular decision. I visited Tufts and really enjoyed it. Not seeing that I have a real shot, but I thought I would ask anyway.

-Chorus and drama club all 4 years, currently in audition only Choir treasurer of Choral Department
-NHS, Tri-M and National Green School Society Member
-Went on mission trip with church to MS
-Active member in Student Council
-Proposed a styrofoam ban as part of en Environmental Science Internship
-Work paid Environmental intern at school over the summer, currently doing the same work for credit.
-Irish dancer
I think the odds are against you, but you will hear soon enough. Something in your application may really have resonated with them, so we can’tsay… Good luck!
The bad news is that it is particularly hard to get into Tufts if you live in the metro Boston area - due to the large number of local applicants and the large number of local high schools (both public and private) that are extremely competitive. Our family is local, and we had one family member get into Harvard, but not Tufts.
The good news is that despite having high average test scores, Tufts tends to be very holistic in admissions. The essays and recommendations carry more weight than many highly selective schools. Likewise for community service, actual work experience and unusual life experiences- but they need to come across in the essays.
The bottom line is that you have a chance, but it is impossible to accurately predict your chances based on just your academic stats.

It is noticeable that it’s hard to get into competitive schools in the area if you are from here, even UMASS Amherst.
