Hi CC! I am a white male living in suburban CT. I applied to Tulane EA over a month ago and am wondering about my chances of admission.
Here goes…
Intended Major: Political Economy Law, Economics, & Policy
Second Choice: Political Science
Minor: Spanish
GPA: 3.8738 (W) ~3.56 (UW)
Significant Classes:
Freshman year: 5 honors classes (geometry, biology, English, history, band),
Sophomore year: 4 honors classes (English, history, Spanish III, band),
Junior year: 2 AP (USH and Lang, as well as Dual Enrollment credit through UConn for both classes) and 2 honors classes (Spanish IV and band)
Senior Year: 2 AP (U.S. Gov. and Psychology), 1 Dual Enrollment (Conversational Spanish V), and 1 honors (band). I am also enrolled in Calculus which is only possible through an accelerated math track program I was placed in when I took Algebra I in 8th grade (although I am not exceptional at math).
Highest SAT Superscore: 1280 (3 Attempts, all about the same)
AP Scores: USH (4) Lang (4, technically did not even take the class)
ECs on Application:
- Student Government: Rep. all 4 years, treasurer senior year. Active in planning homecoming.
- School Newspaper: Staff writer junior and senior year, social media manager and editor senior year.
- Band: Concert band all four years. Prestigious jazz band for three years. Marching band all four years, perform at three parades a year. Pep band at football games all four years.

- Tri-M Music Honor Society: Junior and senior year. Helped out with the annual “Coffee House” music night event and helped plan the “Pops” concert.
- Work: I have been a cashier at a grocery store since the end of my sophomore year. I put in 15-25 hours a week year-round.
- Track & Field: I was a thrower for three years, although I have no significant accomplishments in the sport. Lol
Honors/Distinctions:
- Honor Roll all freshman year, High Honor Roll sophomore year-present
- Journalism award junior year (school-wide)
- AAPPL Seal of Biliteracy- this shows up on my transcript also
I also believe my personal statements were rather strong. I realize my SAT is on the low side for Tulane, but I hope my GPA and ECs compensate for this. Please be honest and let me know!
Thanks in advance.
