Chances for UBC?

would a SAT of 1520 (new sat) and GPA of 3.8xx (uw) be good enough for UBC? I have taken 4 subjects of SAT2 (Math2, Chinese, Japanese, Korean) and got 700+ in all of them, 800 in two of them. I’m coming from an American high school and I want to apply as a cognitive systems (BA) major. any advice would be helpful  Thanks!

(btw, how does UBC emphasize ec’s a lot? thx!)

I would say yes, you have a really good shot.

I agree, I think that your chances are quite good (very strong if you were Canadian, I am less knowledgeable about international requirements). This is a great university. Good luck!

Also, I don’t think that Canadian universities care much about ECs. My daughter just got into several Canadian universities (smaller ones, but academically very strong ones), and I am not sure if she even mentioned them. She didn’t have much in terms of extra-curriculars.

I’m sure OP has already realized this, but just posting for reference of future applicants. UBC totally does care about EC’s! This is why they have a whole personal profile for applicants to fill out. They are making an effort to move towards a more holistic approach in admissions.

@xopqox UBC Arts is a safety for you, considering how it’s a less competitive faculty.

Your grades are pretty good, and the SAT averages for Arts is probably in the 1200’s.

About the SAT Subject Tests, I’m unsure to whether UBC accepts them. I know they don’t require them.
