bump....i just visited and i want to go there but im scared lol

About a 15% chance.

i know its hard 2 get in but i think i might have more than 15% chance lol

My friend's neice was salutatorian at her hs in Tenn, got rejected by UNC. Hate to be the bearer of bad news, sorry.

yea i know....im hopin URM will count for sumthin....i dont want to start a huge debate by saying that either

Most state schools can't count URM status although I don't know about UNC in particular.

i think thats california schools

Yeah UNC has plenty of minority students. That will not help you much.
Have you taken hard classes (APs, etc.)? A 3.7 unweighted isn't amazing but it's not bad. I'd say it's your weak point. Have you gotten any grades below B?

I'd say you have a good chance. Good luck, definitely try applying for the Pogue Scholarship. I'm not sure, maybe it's just for in-state students...but anyway go ahead and look into it.

It's hardly just CA. Michigan had the biggest law suit.

yeah my GPA would be about a 3.8 without sophemore year which is better....my counselor is writing a note about my sophemore year. I am going to apply to UNC but im not expecting to get in. Thanx tho

P.S. Michigan is still very big on AA from what i am told

15% was probably being generous....

o yea im in the top 6% of my class of 234...competitive school i might add

jaw, its been said many times that UNC is difficult to get into, and even more difficult if you're out of state. My friend from Ohio had great stats, was editor of 2 yearbooks, president of 2 honor societies, class prez, won a journalism internship competing against applicants across the country (thats how I met him) and STILL got rejected.

Basically, its very very hard. I think less than 20% of their acceptances come from out of state, but don't quote me.

Its probably a reach for most people, and its probably a reach for you. But that's not to say you don't have a shot. Just apply. You never know. I wish I had the guts to even apply at UNC (great journalism program)...but I don't.

Good luck :)

I believe it's 18%
