Chances for University at Buffalo

I am currently attending a community college in my town and I hate it, it just feels like high school and they don't have any classes besides gen ed stuff to help me with my major, which is going to be computer science.

Because of this, I really want to transfer to a four year school that isn't too expensive or competitive, is fairly large, and has a good computer science program. As far as I can tell, University at Buffalo seems like it would be a great college for me so I want to know what my chances are.

SAT Score: 1510
Highschool GPA: somewhere around 3.0, maybe a little lower.(I don't currently have a copy of my transcript.)

I know my stats are a little below the average for UB, but I took the SAT after a summer of not being in school so I was a little rusty, and I'm trying real hard to get a really good GPA at my community college this semester.

Got my transcript and I had a 2.7 GPA in high school…

I know it’s really bad but if I get a 3.3 (UB’s average) my first semester at my community college what would my chances be? What are my chances just with my high school stats? A reply from anyone at all would be appreciated.

I think you should try to finish as strongly as you can at your cc because then the cc gpa will count more. Also, computer science is a difficult major but if you can pull up your cc grades, you’ll have a better chance of being admitted. UB is a good school.

Thanks for the reply. According to UB’s website, if you have 24 college credits, your high school transcripts and test scores aren’t even looked at so that is probably what I am going to do.

I’m doing great at this CC so far I’m doing all my homework and getting mostly As on quizzes and tests. The main reason I did bad in high school was that I didn’t do a lot of homework.

I’m not really worried about Computer Science being hard because I had the highest average in my computer programming class in high school with a 96, I have a fairly good knowledge about computers(I built my own desktop),and I’m pretty good at math(it was my highest section on the SAT.

Also, I’ve gotten mixed results on what my actual highschool GPA is, because on my transcript it is only an 82 in percentage form and I have heard that is either a 2.7 or 3.0. Can anyone confirm one of these?
