Thank you to all who respond!

Did you apply early action?

Yes I did

You can never really tell for most OOS Michigan, but assuming good essays, I am liking your chances.

Hopefully everything works out and you #GoBlue!

Thanks so much! I liked my essays so fingers crossed. Just curious, is OOS significantly harder than in state? I know it is that way for some schools, like UNC, but I haven’t heard anything specific about Michigan.

@jrsnoles99

It depends on the state/geographic region. I am not sure about Florida specifically, but for most domestic applicants (who come from states such as New Jersey, California, New York, etc.), admission is significantly more difficult than similarly qualified/hooked in-state applicants. For the few applicants from states like North Dakota, admissions is probably easier than similarly qualified in-state applicants. It gets even more nuanced when you consider how not all in-state applicants are considered equal. UofM is making conscious efforts in recruiting students from Detroit, Ypsilanti, Flint, and the Upper Peninsula - so students from those areas may experience a bit of a greater advantage from the admissions committee (which I do not disagree with) than other in-state students.

I am guessing Florida is more towards the New Jersey/California category because I want to say UofM has plenty of students from Florida, but I am unsure.
