Hi guys, I have been an avid reader of CC for a long time and finally decided to make on of these "chance threads"

What do you think my chances are for UW Seattle (my dream school)

GPA: 3.39 (unweighted)

Sat: 740 CR, 620 M, 690 W, 2050 composite

Language: Fluent in Urdu, English, and took German for two years

ECs: National Honor Society 2011, Kiwanis Organization Volunteering (Key Club) at a local Senior Center , Tutoring peers and younger children, City Department/ Public Works volunteering involving various jobs and experiences/ Japanese Club and German Club Member

AP Scores/Courses: 5 on AP English Language and 4 on AP US History. Will be taking AP Macro, Bio, English Lit, Government, and Psychology my senior year.

I was born in Pakistan and immigrated here as a young child, and have also taught my younger siblings Urdu.

I am fluent in both languages. I would really appreciate if anyone could gauge my chances for me-- I am a pretty good essay writer so I believe I will do well on that!

You have a very good chance. The only detractor I would say is your GPA (UWA wants your UNWEIGHTED GPA; your weighted doesn’t matter) . If you bring it up you’re in for sure. I’m going there in the Fall. See you there next year!

To be honest, with your GPA you don’t have a high chance of getting in. I would estimate, (through looking at statistics of UW admits), that your chances of admittance are somewhere between 20% and 40%. That being said, you chances of admission increase if you can write quality essays.

Dang, is GPA really that important for UW? I read their middle 50% is around 3.5, but I was hoping my SAT scores (which I can probably improve by a 100 points) can compensate for that.

Is there anything I can do to improve my chances? This is literally the ONLY school I want to attend

Any advice would be helpful. UW is honestly the only college I want to go to because it is the college my parents have always envisioned for me and I feel like getting in would be some sort of compensation for their struggle.
