Chances for USC and UCLA

I plan on applying to USC and UCLA this upcoming application season, and I wanted some thoughts on what my chances would be on acceptance.

GPA: 3.96 (Unweighted)
SAT: 1920 (590 Reading/650 Math/680 Writing)
Rank: 8 of 386
6 AP Courses

Extracurricular activities: -Nationally ranked tennis player (Placed 3rd at national championships), State Participant through high school, 4-year varsity tennis letter, MVP, Team captain
-2-year varsity letter in golf, Team captain
-Key Club President (community service club, 400+ hours)
-City's Parks and Recreation Youth Commissioner
-7 years of orchestra
-Student Government (ASB Officer)
-Math Club
-DECA State competitor
-Honors Society
-French Club

Awards: AP Scholar, Regional Leadership Award, Exceptional Leadership Award, Community Dedication Award, Highest Honors, Student Scholar Athlete, National Honors Society

Chances?!?

Don’t all DECA teams compete at state competitions? Also nice GPA, maybe raise your SAT scores, but that’s just my opinion.

Both would be matches for humanities/social science/liberal arts majors, and high matches for science/engineering majors

The team may qualify but you have to qualify individually to show up and compete :)

You have a strong GPA but your SATs are below the 25th%-tile for USC

and below the mid-point for UCLA

[Freshman admission profile | UC Admissions](http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/campuses/ucla/freshman-profile/index.html)

I think the wise strategy is to treat both of them as reaches and make sure that you have other, easier admit, options.
