Chances for UT Austin

Hi all,

I am finishing up my UT Austin application and getting ready for the November 1st deadline. I am applying for Computer Science (1st choice for my major) and ECE (2nd choice for my major). I know CS and engineering is very competitive at UT Austin especially for an out of state student like me. However, I was wondering what my chances were for being accepted for the Fall of 2018.

Background Info:
-Indian male
-Senior from Illinois
-Upper Middle Class
-Large High School

Scores:
-34 on the ACT (33 Math, 34 English, 32 Reading, 35 Science)
-1500 on the SAT (790 Math, 710 English/Reading)
-Most likely will only be sending my ACT
-PSAT commended student (not sure this will help at all)
-4.43 Weighted GPA; 3.75 UW GPA
-Did very poorly Freshman year but received straight A’s Sophomore and Junior Year (Will this make a big difference?)
-Took hardest possible courseload each year
-My school does not provide class rank

EC’s:
-Marching Band
-FRC Robotics
-100+ hours volunteering

I have applied to Iowa State, Minnesota, and Texas A&M. Will also apply to UIUC and Purdue. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You have a better chance at UIUC since you are in state and it’s a better school for your major. UT will condsider your freshman grades.

As you know, your chances for acceptance at UT are slight. I would send your SAT as well. That very high math number is something they look for in CS.

I think you have a good chance. UT does consider academic improvement and potential. If you improved yourself, they will consider that. Your scores etc look good.
