Chances for Virginia public schools?

Hello, I'm a senior at a private high school in Virginia and was looking at these colleges:

Reaches:

-UVA
-W&M

Matches(?):

-VT
-JMU
-CNU
-Mary Washington

-George Mason(I'd put this between safety and match out of personal opinion.)

Safeties:

-VCU
-Liberty, even though it's private.
-Anything around this level.

My desired major would be finance, so I'm really looking at JMU specifically because UVA and William and Mary are reaches.

Here are my credentials:

GPA: 3.5 unweighted. I took the most difficult classes my school had to offer (selection was not amazing).

Approximate GPA each year:

Freshman: 3.2
Sophomore: 3.6
Junior: 3.8
Senior: Hopefully 4.0, but 3.7 would be more likely. My grades tended to go up throughout high school and as classes got harder.

SAT:

First attempt- 1690- 570 CR, 600 Math, 530 Writing.

Second attempt- 1920. 640 CR, 650 Math, 630 Writing.

EC's:

Concession stand for home Basketball and Volleyball games: 2 years.
Volunteered for a pet adoption group on Saturdays Freshman and Sophomore years.
Aided people in moving into their homes with my Sunday School class: 25 hours.
Beta Club: Junior year.
Worked on the school Yearbook and Newsletter for one year.
Worked at Chick-Fil-A for 5 1/2 months.

And from July 2011 to December 2011 I helped take care of my mother before she passed away from lung cancer in December. This took up most of my Junior year.

In the event that I don't get accepted to any of the match schools, more than likely I'll go to community college for 2 years and transfer into one of them.

My goodness. I’d say you’ve done very well given the situation with your mom. I’m so sorry.
I think you’re in good shape at JMU. Keep the efforts up. Show you’re doing well now. Tech may be more of a reach. Mason is likely as is CNU. I think you’ve got good safeties selected too. Best wishes to you.

Wow. I agree with 89wahoo. You have done really well especially with your mom passing. Definately apply to UVA and W&M also. Do you need financial aid?

you’re in to g. mason & CNU, probably JMU as well.
the improvement of your grades over the years will reflect well in your applications.
work hard on your essays.

Thank you all for your kindness and input!

And I think I will apply to UVA and W&M, but I’m not holding my breathe on them.

And as of now I probably won’t need much financial aid. We aren’t paying for cancer treatments anymore (as sad as that sounds) and I will try to put forth as much money as I can from summer jobs.

You would definitely get into JMU. And you are amazing for going through what you did, good luck to you.
