Chances for Williams and others

Hi all, I am currently a Junior in high school and am hoping to get some feedback on my chances at a variety of schools.
Stats
3.8 uw gpa 4.0 w
top decile, but not an uber competitive school
33 act:35 e 33 r 31 m 32 s
2180 sat: 720 m 680cr 780 w (should I send both?)
havn't taking sat ii's yet but plan on taking U.S, bio, and either (or both) math i or ii
Being that I'm a Junior the only AP score i have so far is USWH 4, but i plan on taking APUSH, and AP Bio before senior year. Senior year i plan on taking all AP's except physics which is not offered as an AP. Excpected senior courseload: Calc AB, Physics, AP English, AP Euro and AP Spanish.

ECs
VP, plan on going for president next year
Varsity baseball and basketball
Tech crew for school play
will be in NHS but our school inducts at the end of JR year
Summer job as well as volunteer counselor.
Band section leader
An unimportant club or two
I feel my ECs seem light so advice on how to improve them would be helpful

Schools I'm currently considering
Williams College (its early, but I'm considering ED there)
Cornell
Amherst
Tufts
BC
Hamilton
Colgate
Lehigh
URochester
RPI
SUNY Binghamton
SUNY Geneseo

Additional info: I live in NY and I will be applying for FA (<90,000) and I plan to major in Econ or business/finance
Will being at a not competitive school with limited APs hurt me and do I stand a chance at these schools. Thanks in advance

bump

Bump btw reading thru it says summer job as volunteer counselor; it should read summer job *and I was a volunteer counselor

Bump any help would be appreciated

what is your ethnicity?

I am a white male (unfortunately for this) but I may be considered first gen because my dad didnt go to college and my mom has an AA, but did not attend a 4 year school

bump

What I would advise is that you take ACT one more time to raise the score up a point or two (or who knows, three)If you raise your ACT score,

If you retake and do better, I would not send your SAT since if you look at this link http://www.act.org/aap/concordance/estimate.html</a> you will find that a 34 is roughly a 2250. Quite above a 2180.

Otherwise, if you choose not to retake, a 33 is estimated to be a 2180, so it wouldn’t matter whether or not you sent it in.

Williams is a highly competitive school, but it chooses about half its students in ED, so if you really have your mind set on Williams, that’s the way to go.

ECS, on the common app, there is only room for 10 activities anyways, so no worries about quantity of ECs.
The other thing is that colleges don’t want to see a lot of Ecs, they want to see how deeply you participated in A FEW of them. So put your heart into particular ones and make your passion show.

The college will ask for a school profile which is basically the list of what APs your school offers and what type of school it is. Since you say your school offers a limited amount of APs, they will see this and take it into consideration.

(May I also suggest that you take the psychology AP, since it one of the easiest to self study. It will take minimum effort on your part, just buy a book and read through it. )

Other tips: Think about recommendations now, don’t ask just yet, but still keep in mind who might show or say something about you that the commonapp and scores do not cover

Question: What major are you going for?

Good luck, and I hope I didn’t overwhelm you.

Thanks for the help. I plan to major in Econ, but I’m not 100% on that. The AP psych test seems like a good idea; I will give that a shot. I have a pretty good idea of at least one of my recs (I have had the fortune of having the same math teacher 3 years in a row) but my second one is up in the air and I will give it more consideration. Do you (or others)think I am competitive for Williams ED as it currently stands? Thanks again
