Chances for Yale/Penn/etc.

Hi everyone I am new here... :D
I am currently a junior at a competitive public high school. I am very curious/nervous/stressed out about some of my chances into getting into some of my dream schools. Here are a list of schools I am considering to apply to: Duke and WashU are my top schools. Other schools i'm considering are HYPS, Northwestern, Cornell, UMich Honors program, Rice (hopefully the Rice-baylor med program), Emory. I hope to double major in two of the following: psych/econ/chem/neuroscience/biology/finance with a pre-med track.

Listed below are some of my credentials:
Unweighted GPA 4.00 (though I might get a B in one course this year :( )
Weighted: 4.57 cumulative
Rank: school doesn't rank, but I'm in the top 10%
SAT: 2310 (740 Writing/780 Reading/790 Math)-Also i'm wondering if colleges see the writing essay subscore, b/c i did really badly on my essay...lol :P
SAT II: 790 Bio, 770 US history
Planning to take 12 ap's total from 9-12 and so far i've gotten a 5 on bio and 4 on US history...Also taking CalcIII my Senior Year, which isn't weighted.
I am mainly worried because i have relatively lame ECS...only a couple of officer positions and JV track/XC, although i participated in them for all three years
Volunteering at a hospital/key club (~150 hours)
BTW i'm an asian male with no legacy/hook/not first year college.
I was wondering if the fact that there are many other better-qualified applicants in my grade hurts my chances/how much they hurt them...I am mainly worried about my ECs because there are like 10 people in my grade who have amazing (on national level) ECs...

I would really appreciate your input! :D

Your SAT I score is “okay”

Your SAT II scores are “okay”

Your UWGPA is good

“I was wondering if the fact that there are many other better-qualified applicants in my grade hurts my chances/how much they hurt them?”

It will hurt your chances if they are Asians

It will hurt your chances more if they are whites

Asian Male with no hook is your biggest problem.

 1. Apply to many top colleges
 2. Start your essays early
 3. Apply to many EA schools as possible

3 Asian males from my HS and 1 Asian male from nearby HS had stats better than yours but we all got rejected or waitlisted from HYPSM.
Other than 1 person, we got accepted from Northwestern or/and Rice or/and Duke.
2 people applied to Wash U and both of them got waitlisted.
2 people applied to Cornell and both of them got rejected.
Nobody applied to Michigan or Emory.

thanks. I was wondering if i should apply many EA’s or do ED for one if I end up really wanting to go to that one school (probably duke)…which is better?
