wow, you have eerily similar stats as me. I'm even from westchester too.
You're GPA(mine as well) is kind of low for binghamton. It's a reach, but you deffinitly have a shot.

Your average is a bit low. If you work on improving it, you stand a chance at Harpur for RD. Though, I'll be honest, it's a bit of a reach.

This year's admission standards will probably be tougher, but I did some research of kids that got accepted from my school for this fall and came up with these two candidates who in my opinion don't meet all the standards people here at CC say one needs to get into Binghamton.

Both solid ECs, Essay and Recommendations (nothing special though):

Student 1-
89.1 GPA
Never enrolled in honors or AP classes
30 ACT (he tells me this got him in, which I agreed)

Student 2-
93 GPA
Only enrolled in honors english. No APs.
26 ACT

I talked to both of those individuals and they both got in RD. To me, it doesn's seem like either of them meet any standards of people that post in this forum.

And, I have one unconfirmed account (probably not true, but really no reason to lie) that claims he got rejected from RD but called the admissions counselor and explained how Binghamton was his first choice and he was a hard worker, among other things. The purpose of his call was NOT to try and get in, but rather to have the counselor suggest the best plan for him to transfer there either in the spring or next fall. He claims he was admitted on the spot for that upcoming semester.

So what I'm trying to say is to just apply. Whatever happens, happens. If its your first choice and you don't get in, just transfer there later on.

Sean: Whenever you are discussing chances/admits to a state school, you need to mention whether the candidates are IS or OOS (instate or out of state) ESPECIALLY for Binghamton....

Sorry they are both IS.

i actually know someone who had an 85 average and a pretty mediocre SAT score that got in last year. He took lots of APs though...
