Hello, I am currently a junior in high school and am excited about the prospect of attending college in what is now less than twenty-four months! :-) I have spent a great deal of my time looking at colleges (some which I should probably spending on studying). I never thought I'd say this, but I absolutely LOVE NYU! :-) I am specifically interested in their Public Health program at Steinhardt.

I, however, do not know anyone who attends NYU, specifically Steinhardt and was wondering if someone could help me learn a little more about the school and my chances of getting in. I plan on taking my SAT in January 2013 and have yet to receive my October 2012 PSAT scores. I am aiming for at least 2000, though. My school does not calculate GPA, but from the calculation I just did, mine should be around 3.95 by June 2013. I also play tennis (on the school's team, as well), am the stage manager for school productions, and also do some other things outside of school.

The reason I would like to study public health...well, I have realized that I do not love just one particular subject. If someone asked, I would only be honest if I said I love learning languages, English, and human anatomy. My dream is to work at a health clinic, possibly for HIV/AIDS, around the world. I absolutely love communicating and interacting with people (sorry, I don't know how to say this in a non-ambiguous and clear way) and am a health buff. I've learned that health is intertwined with culture in many ways, so public health is a field in which I see my school (subject) interests and my passion coming together and even overlapping each other.

I would love to hear about what public health, specifically at NYU, is really like. I plan on visiting soon (I had to postpone my visit because of Hurricane Sandy). I absolutely love the courses and the sequence NYU Steinhardt has, as well.

Any insight/advice would be so very appreciated...I would love to attend NYU, but like any other student, am not sure if it's truly for me. I mean, course descriptions and even campus visits can only say so much.

Thank you! :-)
