Chances for NYU (specifically Steinhardt)?

Hi college confidential world:) This is my first post, so forgive me if I provide extraneous information, I'm just getting the hang of this!

Soo...
NYU is my top choice, I specifically want to major in media, culture and communications at Steinhardt while minoring in business at Stern (to make myself more employable, either in advertising or public relations)

I am a caucasian female from New Jersey and a junior in high school... I have an unweighted 4.0 GPA in all IB level classes (I'm more than on track to graduate with my IB diploma, which is exciting!)

I didn't really study for my ACT and got a 29, but I'm taking it again in February and am studying this time lol, so I'm shooting for at least a 30

Out of school activities:
Volunteer at a horse farm as a therapeutic assistant, helping children and adults with special needs receive therapy on horseback (5 years)
Volunteer teen literacy coordinator, helping underprivileged youth improve their reading ability over the summer through the library (5 years)
Volunteer through First Tee as an assistant couch (5 years)
Volunteer camp counselor working with autistic children (3 years)

In school ECs:
Red Cross Club VP (two years)
Voices literary magazine editorial staff (two years)
Math League (two years)
Video News Production Team (two years )
STEM News correspondent (two years)

The reason my ECs in school will only be two years when I graduate is because I switched schools after my sophomore year, from a small charter public school that was specialized in future medical professionals (I switched because I realized I didn't want to be dr./ wanted to be in the IB program) - I don't regret switching schools, but is it a weakness on my application?

I don't play sports BUT highly anticipate being accepted into NHS (we don't apply till February)

Also, I'm relatively confident in my essay writing ability - it's one of my strengths and I anticipate my essays to be strong

Are there any glaring holes in my application that I could work on? What would you say my chances are? any advice would be much appreciated:) thanks so much guys!

Your ACT is a little low, but you have a great GPA and some unique ECs, so I’d say it’s a match. Good luck!

I definitely agree that my ACT is on the low side, but thanks so much! I hope you’re right an wish you luck in your search as well:)

act is kinda low for NYU but remember NYU doesn’t only look at your standardize score, they look at you holistically. Are you doing ED2? That will give you better chance. -I am in Stern ED1 co2018

I am a junior, but will be applying in the first round of early decision next year if I continue to love NYU as much as I do now, which I totally agree will help my chances… however I looked at a scattergram from cappex of students admitted to NYU, and even with my current act score it seems I am still an overwhelmingly viable candidate thanks to my high GPA in IB level classes… but you’re right, i still need to work on my act score! Thanks for the feedback!
