I got accepted into UT with automatic admission, haven't received any news whether or not if I'm in CNS. So a months later my friend got accepted in UT and into College of Natural Science. My SAT scores are really low and it was too late for me to re-take it. So I'm a little scared I won't get into College of Natural Science. What do you guys think?
Stats:
GPA: 3.71/4.0
Rank: 39/495
SAT: CR: 610 Math:510
Tons of Ecs

bump ^^^^^

Ha, funny story about the college of natural sciences. If you get into the university, you get into CNS. So congrats! But, there are some conditions. Let’s assume you are a computer science major (I only use that major because I am more familiar with their requirements). You will technically be a “pre-CS” major until you complete certain classes (for CS, it was CS 312, CS 313K, CS 314, and M 408D, you can complete all of these classes after freshman year). Once you complete those classes, you need to have at least a 2.5 GPA among those classes, then you will be considered an actual CS major starting sophomore year. All of the CNS majors work this way, so you will start off pre-Bio, pre-Chem, pre-Math, or whatever. But anyway, you’re into your major so congrats and hook 'em!

So what you’re saying is that I’m automatically in CNS and that I shouldn’t worry about not getting in?

Yup. What major are you going for?

I’m going to major in Bio

abcdegsds is correct. A first-year Biology major has his or her major designation as ‘Entry level: Biology’. You do not declare until later. Thus, I believe if you get into UT, you get into CNS.

Well I think you’ll get in because I applied to CNS early admission for biology and I was accepted.
My SATs scores where lower than yours or kinda around the same:
CR:480 Math:530
Rank: 26/1020
GPA:3.30
ACT:23

I hate the top 8/9% admission rule sometimes.

^^^totally agree.

23 act?!
1120 sat composite?!

■■■…

I still wonder why I’m worried about admissions with 9.3% rank. Oh yeah. BECAUSE IT’S NOT GAURANTEED.

Story of my life…2230 SAT and that means nothing as of right now

I get how y’all feel…in state at a nonranking school, so it’s practically impossible for me to get in. Ugh.

Well they’ll look at you holistically so I think you’ll definitely have a chance with your stats
