<p>Ok, so basically I did not go to an Ivy League school. I'm going to be graduating form Univ. of Puget Sound. I shouldn't make excuses for myself, but I went to an ultra-competitive prep school with a bunch of spoiled kids. Most got into Ivy's b/c their parents went to one. Kids with 3.5-3.6 GPA's got into Stanford and a few Ivy's, etc. I did OK getting a 3.2, but it didn't get me into any "good" schools. </p>
<p>So, I really would like to get an internship or entry-level job at a VC firm or investment bank. I have a B.A. in Economics and a minor in French. I've traveled extensively (North Africa, Europe, Asia, have worked for a bootstrapped tech startup in San Francisco, and worked two summers at a computer consulting firm. My question is: Is it even possible getting into investment banking with my kind of background. The one thing I have going for me is the people I went to high school with. Some of my friends' parents work in investment banking (two are actually owners and billionaires). </p>
<p>Any advice would be appreciated. Just need a reality check. As I see it now, I have a shot if I start out at small boutique firm and get good recommendations.</p>
